My doctor recommended the book “Why we sleep”.
Last time I went in, I couldn’t sleep and got about 2 hours of sleep. So I told them to expect the blood pressure to be high. Hence the recommendation.
It’s available on Kindle. I bought the summary for $2. Plan on going back and buying the full book.
Maybe, maybe not. We listened to too many media generated crises over the last 30 years to get all worked up over this one. Sounds like another chicken little type thing. If its America’s time to go it gonna be fire and brimstone like Sodom and Gomorah not some dang flu from China. Likely worse than Sodom and Gomorah but thats a topic for another thread.
Doesn’t this just drive you nuts? This one dimensional thinking and parroting the ‘dont panic, all is well’ line. Or the ‘if you post to share Corona info you’re helping defeat Trump and spreading panic’ is wasting SOO much effort and time and stealing away from useful discussion.
You mean last time you went in for a sleep study? I had the same experience...maybe 3 to 4 hours of sleep. I was not prepared for the amount of instrumentation, strange bed, lights, interruptions, noises, etc and just could not get to sleep. Then half way through the crappy sleep they woke me to slap on a CPAP machine. After that, they immediately jumped to the conclusion that I needed to be on the machine full time.
The past four months I've been analyzing my sleep with the data from the CPAP machine combined with a pulse oximeter, a wrist actigraph, and a sleep position sensor. I've learned a lot from all the data I've collected. I do a lot better at sea level than at 2,200 feet; stay away from all sleep meds; get to bed the same time every night; zero alcohol; decaf coffee morning only; lots of exercise. The effect of a mild elevation change really surprised me.
No, not a sleep study, just a diabetes checkup.
I was at home, but just couldn’t sleep. Don’t know why except the sleep cycle had gotten off. Stayed up too late, like now. Slept in on the weekend.

Biblical proportions? Really? Exaggerate much? Tell me, how many Americans have been infected with the common Flu in the first two months of the year 2020? How many have died in this same period?
Now, tell me how many Americans in this same period have been affected with the Wuhan virus? How many deaths?
The comparison isn’t even close. The former is in the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS. The DEATHS are in the TENS OF THOUSANDS.
Wuhan virus infections and deaths are not even worthy of discussion in comparison. And, as bad as the Flu is, it is listed as the 9th cause of death in the USA. The Wuhan virus isn’t even in the top 100 at this point.
“Just the flu”, the real flu, is already over 20,000 deaths this year.
This is not the flu, not even close and the COVID strain has been going on in this country since about the first of the year.
The UNMC facility is a level-3 containment facility. They’ve treated Ebola patients there. These facilities have to follow a strict protocol, regardless of the infection. That’s why everyone i s suited up, she’s double wrapped in a containment suit leaving no possibility of spreading anything within the facility. It would be frightening if they did not follow strict procedures to the max.

Most assuredly. Thank you for recognizing this fact. I do not suffer fools lightly. Life is far too short to tolerate them. Too much to do. Too much to accomplish.
I leave them to people like you. You’re more than welcome to them. You babysit them. Coddle them. Make them feel good. While neither you or they accomplish a damnded thing except hugging each other and consoling each other.
In the meantime, there is work to be done. A country to be saved from those who want to destroy her. I haven’t the time nor the inclination to waste my time with people who dwell in self-pity. If my attitude disturbs you or anyone else so be it. I’ll live with it.
There are far more important things in this life to fight for. Fiercely, and without remorse or regret.
