Trump isn’t the only world leader making it virtually impossible for many Africans to get asylum in the United States. He’s getting plenty of help from allies in the Americas.
Ecuador is closing its doors as one of the few countries in North and South America to welcome African visitors, depriving them of a starting point for their journey north by land. If asylum-seekers make it to Mexico, they face a virtual barricade near its southern border with Guatemala.
To seek asylum in the U.S., Africans 'fly' to South America and travel north by land. First of all, no Africans can legitimately seek asylum in the US. Its an entire ocean away on a different continent. They have to go to considerable trouble and expense to reach the US.....indicating asylum is not what they’re after. They could have had that for far less money by traveling much shorter distances to neighboring countries.
These are economic migrants WE, the American People, did not authorize to enter our country. Keep them out. The same goes for others like Pakistanis, Chinese, etc who get on a jet and cross an ocean to try to sneak into our country. They have no legitimate claims.
Refugees are supposed to seek asylum in the first safe country they come to. That wouldn’t be the USA

There are many videos on youtube (many from the CBC) showing just that kind of thing happening.Search "Roxham Road" on youtube and you'll find several hits.IIRC that's one of the most famous spots where that happens.
However,I don't know if the reverse is true...that is,fly to Canada on a tourist visa,cross into the US and claim asylum.I'm not sure if the treaty allows that as well.
