...Most of the attention centers on that all-important number, 9,992. Not only is that the dollar amount an in-state student will pay Purdue for tuition and fees next year; it is also the amount such a student paid Purdue when Daniels became university president, in 2013. The university has also reduced the price of food services and textbooks. An undergraduate degree from Purdue, in other words, is less expensive today than it was when Daniels arrived...

God Bless, Mitch Daniels
This is what “Conservatives” are supposed to do.
Fish Heads and Rice for the typical College Administrator.
The faculty squealed like pigs when he showed up, but quickly found out Mitch wasn’t kidding.
When I went to college, tuition, room and board was about $600/semester.
The Guaranteed Student Loan came in to being the last 2 years of my grad school. My tuition doubled each of those last 2 years.
It’s shot up exponentially ever since.
Regan was so right.

You idiots, why are you falling for this shiite? The State of Indiana cut the tax reimbursement to Purdue for in-state home-grown Hoosier kids. So, rather than raise tuition to cover that shortfall, Mitch Daniels hatched a plan, pulling the wool over all your eyes, evidently. Purdue denies Indiana kids entrance into Purdue and accepts foreign-born foreign students from Asia by the cargo-ship load! They pay FULL TUITION prices, about $30,200 a year, and Purdue not only can claim “it’s not raising in-state tuition”, by now it far exceeds the amount of revenue is used to bring in! Except that Hoosier kids can’t get in and the entire Campus looks like it’s located somewhere in Asia! ‘Replacement population’ anyone?!?
They make it almost impossible to get in state tuition. Years ago I attended and graduated from Purude. After a year, I was able to get in state tuition. Not so for my daughter. No breaks for alumni kids at all.....some promised for your grand kids, maybe. No worries. The education has decayed to such an extent that we pulled her out after a year. It is AWFUL! My husband won’t hire from Purdue amy longer....Only top tier schools now. How the mighty have fallen.
You are absolutely right. Purdue hates in state kids.
Ah, this would explain why The Atlantic was willing to be so generous to Mitch.
That’s been going on in almost all state schools for well over a decade!
