So how deadly IS coronavirus? You're most likely to die if you're a man, elderly and have an underlying heart condition, stats suggest

Men are 65 per cent more likely than women to die from coronavirus, according to statistics.

Figures from the World Health Organization and Chinese scientists have revealed that 1.7 per cent of women who catch the virus will die compared to 2.8 per cent of men, even though neither sex is more likely to catch it.

More than 98,000 people around the world have now been diagnosed with the virus, which causes a disease called COVID-19, and at least 3,383 have died.

Some experts have put the higher risk among men down to higher smoking and drinking rates – both habits weaken the immune system, making people more likely to get ill.

The elderly and infirm have also been found to more at risk of coronavirus, with 10.5 per cent of heart disease patients expected to die if they catch the deadly virus.

Death rates among people with diabetes – of which there are four million in the UK and 34m in the US – are expected to be around 7.3 per cent, while six per cent of patients who have high blood pressure might die if infected.

Some 5.6 per cent of cancer sufferers infected with the coronavirus would be expected to die along with 6.3 per cent of people with long-term lung diseases.

In the US, at least 233 people have now been confirmed to have the coronavirus, and 12 have died from it, while in the UK there has been one death among 116 cases.

...and the new SARS (2004), Avian Flu (2008), Swine Flu (2010), MERS (2012), Ebola I (2014) or Zika Virus (2016) “pandemics”.

By my count, according to CDC and WHO statistics, approximately 16,500 Americans died in all of those “pandemics” combined. Most of those deaths were from Avian (~12,500) and Swine (~4,000) flu, which is significantly lower than the number of Americans who have died from influenza this season, which CDC estimates at 18-46,000 (I know, that’s an awful big spread). Worldwide deaths greatly exceeded those numbers, by the way. (https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm)

What happens when it’s all over everything? What happens when it’s on our money and our mail? What happens when it’s on our groceries? Or when the hospitals or so contaminated that they can’t even be entered?

I saw a squirrel just keel over and fall out of a tree the other day. He was wearing a mask.

Only amongst good friends.

At "some point?" You come across as a hysterical hypochondriac.

What happens when it’s all over everything? What happens when it’s on our money and our mail? What happens when it’s on our groceries? Or when the hospitals or so contaminated that they can’t even be entered?

Seriously?

I heard that the squirrels were immune! You can’t ever even catch those guys.

In the secular community you can greet a close friend by touching their arm or shoulder lightly and kissing them on both cheeks. It is not uncommon for men to greet other men in this way.

Just asking a question.

You can call me names if it makes you feel better, I can take it.

So do you have an answer for my question?

What happens then? Think about it. You have no idea who has it around you, and they don’t either.

What if you go to the store later on and touch the same buggy as an infected? Then you go home and infect your whole family.

That’s not likely to happen. Is it possible? Yes.

Here’s a pretty interesting article on the Coronavirus:

Just as an aside, if you take someone to the hospital during a pandemic they will be triaged. If they are admitted, that is the last time you will see them until it is over, they are released, or they are dead.

You won’t be allowed in, and you won’t be allowed to visit.

So, take that worry off your list. ;-)

Why are men more susceptible? In a word, urinals! Men get the vapor and/or splash of two or three previous men every time they use the urinal. Since urine is a carrier of the disease, men get much more exposure to the disease every time they urinate.

Recommendation: Urinals should be a small receptacle that has a mild amount of vacuum. Men’s bathrooms should have a dispenser of plastic shrouds that surround the penis and the plug into the receptacle with an airtight fit. There should be a medical waste container for the used shrouds. If possible, the shroud could be medically decontaminated and destroyed as the last step of urination.

I believe you would see men’s infection rates drop significantly with such a system.

Impossible? Impractical? Consider the alternatives?

Bring wipes with you to the market. Wipe the carriage down.

Wash your hands.

Stay away from crowds.

Or not. Your choice. Why rely on anyone else?

Which explains why the high death rate in China and Italy. Too many people smoke cigarettes way too much, for starters.

If you take someone to the hospital during the pandemic you may see a lot more of them than you care to if you also test positive for the virus. Presumably they will not let you just walk away without checking you too.
At the very least, you would have been exposed so self quarantine would be in order.

Is it possible?

You really want to go there?

Over 7,000 people die every day in America. The Coronovirus isn't even a statistic in those numbers. It's possible you can die from the flu, and much more likely. But I don't see Freepers whining/obsessing about that.

“The Coronovirus isn’t even a statistic in those numbers”

Not yet, anyway. It just started.

Lots of people don’t think the flu is a Chinese bioweapon either.

We’ll see what happens. We’re riding this train.

Everything I've seen point to it as being like a bad flu. Death rate is higher but to the same ones as the flu, elderly, underlying conditions etc.

It also appears more easily spread on contact, surface and people. I take the subway to work and unless my employer institutes a work from home policy I'm likely to get it.

For years, people have been the victims of a terror campaign by the eco-freak left - “the world is ending in 11 years,” “the planet is going to catch fire,” etc. So I think some of the panic we are seeing, including here on FR, is because we have had this steady drum-beat of doom pumped at us 24/7 by the sensationalist leftist media.

As usual, the whole purpose of such a campaign is to extend the power of the left, stampeding fearful people into accepting or even begging for more government control and less freedom.

Real statistics don’t matter. There has never before been a disease in the US where each new case is reported as headline news, and that’s what’s causing the hysteria.
