Residents of a Washington county where 31 people have tested positive for coronavirus and nine people have died are being advised to work from home to avoid possible exposure to the killer strain.
Public health officials in King County, which includes Seattle and is home to over 2.2 million people, have urged local businesses to allow employees to telecommute for the next three weeks in an effort to curb the COVID-19 outbreak.
They are also recommending that higher-risk groups - including people over the age of 60, pregnant women and people with underlying health conditions or weakened immune systems - stay home and away from large social gatherings.

Dem officials are acting like total nutjobs.
Why am I not surprised?
That’s it. We’re gonna have to cancel the Democratic convention this summer and put the election on hold indefinitely.
I’m taking this whole thing just about as lightly as anybody here is.
But I could be incredibly wrong and it makes a lot of sense to cause some inconvenience for 3 weeks and avoid possibly several thousand deaths
Dang...just when we were all going to go out and lick our ballots.
WTHeck????
Did this idiot really say this?
My son & family live/work in King County....he works CONSTRUCTION. ..a little hard to telecommute building houses
Operation Chaos: I voted Crazy Bernie here in WA and licked my mail-in ballot :)
This is what happens when you have hard-core one-party rule, stupid crazy, corrupt politicians creating panic, fear and making things worse.
H1B Indian and Communist Chinese contractor trash hit hardest. There is not Working From Home allowed in most contracts. thats a good thing.
Well, you could volunteer to help out in Westchester County hospitals, and get back to us, in a few weeks. :-)
Unless he is doing interior finishing construction is pretty much outdoor and not in confined quarters like office jobs in cubicles. Not as much to worry about.
As long as people aren’t being forced to.
Lol
My family is lucky I’d get off the couch to visit them in the hospital :-)
That’s what Skype is for :-)
Hey!! What’s not to love, and get cozy with....in Westchester County and Washington Heights??
Well...my son is an office type...Operations Mgr... and company is in midst of being bought...but grandson is outside....what a mess. Weyerhaeuser Corp has closed, I hear...
The Democratic officials of King Country were nutjobs—until today.
This was a wise decision—very wise...

There is a lot of outstanding information on this site—please take some time and listen to what this guy has to say, and the evidence he has to support his view.
Never Mind The Ballots, Here’s The...
Something I can’t figure out. I know Vancouver has over a third of the population than Seattle does but why aren’t there more cases there? Vancouver has about the most Chinese connections and population of Chinese heritage and origins in North America of any city except for NYC. Sometime in the next few years Vancouver will pass NYC at that.
I think the Kirkland Nursing home has skewed things...BC has, I think, 12 cases.
On the left coast, I’m sure licking a ballot isn’t the worse thing they lick on.
Business travel here in the US was still ok, travel to London was approved as was Germany, France, etc..
That was last Friday.
Today all travel was banned, period. No travel to conferences in the US, no travel to Europe or within Europe. All our European offices were told no travel within offices in Europe either.
What changed between last Friday and today?
The Coronavirus deaths in Washington State and new cases in New York and Chicago.
We're also performing a WFH test on Friday this week to ensure we have enough SSL VPN capacity in the US for all 18,000 employees here to connect to apps and services needed for our jobs.
Everyone who's NOT certified to WFH is being required to complete WFH certification within the next two weeks in the event we all need to do so.
Personally, I think this is all completely overblown.
Employers like mine and tech companies like Google and Microsoft disagree with me.
Both Google and Microsoft have made their online collaboration platforms for Enterprises FREE for the next two weeks and have pledged to extend that if needed.
All this because of Coronavirus.
I think it's a complete over-reaction and IMO something more nefarious is going on. Whenever the Government and the "news media" hype something like this, it usually means something more sinister is going on behind the yellow curtain and they're desperate to keep us all from finding out what it is.
Maybe I'm paranoid, or maybe I just don't trust this filthy, corrupt government of ours and I haven't for decades. Don't care who's in the White House, it's corrupt to the core. Something's going on that they don't want us to see.
