Vice President Pence will travel on Thursday to Washington state, which is grappling with an increasing number of coronavirus cases.
Pence's press secretary, Katie Miller, tweeted that the vice president will travel to Olympia. He will meet with Washington Gov. Jay Inslee (D) and other state and local officials in the capital city.
Pence told reporters during a meeting with medical lab executives on Wednesday that a 10th American has died from coronavirus.
Nine deaths have been reported in Washington, where state officials have confirmed 27 total cases of the coronavirus.
The vice president was previously scheduled to travel to Wisconsin and Minnesota on Thursday for campaign events. He is still expected to stop in Minnesota to meet with executives from 3M, which is producing masks and other medical equipment.

They could Photoshop Mr. Pence into a picture of Governor Inslee in his office.
How can the government expect anyone to take this seriously when they want to fly the Vice President, other officials, and no doubt a numerous entourage of fluffers and door-holders into one of the centers of infection and then back to Washington, D.C.?
I think that Pence is trying to convey the message that, if you’re healthy, there’s no need to live in a bunker at the moment.
Making a phone call to handle ordinary business, instead of jetting about, is not “living in a bunker.” It is basic common sense and saves everyone money, too.

I’m a citizen and a taxpayer. I think think it’s unnecessary and wasteful.

I’m actually somewhat nervous for VP Pence to go there, but I want to say that hey, I’ve said I don’t care for this guy, but I’m finding myself caring for this guy.
I appreciate your efforts and leadership right now, VP Pence, thank you very much.
Vice presidents are rarely given useful jobs. My gut says I’m seeing the President preparing Pence for 2024.
