Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has captured the biggest prize of the Super Tuesday primaries with a first-place finish in California, the Associated Press projects.
Sanders’ west coast win comes as a big relief to the New England senator who lost a majority of the Super Tuesday contest states to former Vice President Joe Biden, who swept the southern primaries with big wins in Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, and Oklahoma. Biden has also been declared the winner in Minnesota and Massachusetts, two states where Biden had no presence, while Sanders has only been projected to win Utah, Colorado, and his own home state of Vermont in addition to California.
Biden’s extraordinary wins follow a game-changing 72 hours where Biden, who went into South Carolina as a faltering candidate triumphantly emerged with a re-energized campaign after a 28-point blow out joined by a series of high-profile endorsements from former 2020 rivals and prominent Democrats. On the eve of Super Tuesday, Biden landed support from Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, former South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg, and former Texas Congressman Robert Francis O’Rourke. Biden also won endorsements from former Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and former U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice.
While Sanders may have captured California in a win of redemption from a poor performance on Tuesday, the size of Sanders’ victory hinges on whether the other candidates will meet the threshold to land delegates to split the 415 delegate spoils in the west coast contest.
No state in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination is a winner-take-all contest this year, but candidates must hit 15 percent support statewide to win at-large delegates of 15 percent in congressional districts to score district delegates.
To avoid a contested convention in Milwaukee, the winning candidate must garner 1,991 of the 3,979 delegates in play. More than a third of the total delegates in the race will be decided in the 16 states and territories that voted on Super Tuesday.
The good news... None of Bernie’s supporters will likely vote for Biden. They’ll sit on their hands like they did when Hillary stole the nomination. Add to that Biden’s drawbacks of creepiness and mind farts and Trump is looking good and Ivanka is looking even better for 2024.
The DumocRATS now know what its like to have a looser as their nominee... It’s the same feeling Republicans had when they nominated McCain and Romney... A feeling of doom and gloom.
Do you believe in lysine?
a Schittload of mail-in votes in CA are still in the mail
Never mind. Apparently Texas is not winner take all for the Rats this time....
The way Joe's "She's my wife! No, she's my sister!" facepalm is trending everywhere tonight, there's a real possibility nobody's going to vote for Biden.
Bloomberg at 18% is lessening the value of Cali to Sanders.
Texas is _not_ winner take all for the Democrats.
They made all states proportional this year.
Funny how the Democrats want to abolish the electoral college but in their own primary they do proportional delegates
He was speaking for Huntet
Mexicans. They are everywhere!
Is California politically salvageable?
HELL NO and I live here CA. has gone way past the point of no return WAY PAST!!!

“Biden has also been declared the winner in Minnesota and Massachusetts, two states where Biden had no presence”
Amy Klobuchar bailed on her campaign not a moment too soon. Fauxcohantes is out to sea now. She got beat in her home state by a senile shakedown artist who wasn’t even trying to beat her there. Too late to endorse Bernie.
Morning buddy. Correct.
It's Biden.
In 2016 when the Republican elites were trying to push Jeb Bush to be the nominee our side told them to f**k off and we picked Trump instead. Today the GOP is a much different party as a result. The NeverTrumper RINO elites have been kicked to the curb, and their influence is all but gone. For the Democrats last night proved the elites and their media wing still control their party with an iron fist. The Democrat voter is still pretty much a puppet to the powers that be!
If Sanders wins NY state, it’s a new ball game. Illinois is a big prize. The last poll I saw from2.24 had Sanders leading by 4 in NY state.Biden was at 11 per cent.No some folks have dropped out so some will be looking at voting for Biden or others. Bloomberg was leading in NY city but Sanders leads all of upstate and NYC suburbs.
Sanders voters are cult like and they are vindictive and young. They’ll take their marbles and go home and Dem down ballot races will be in trouble. No women appear to be in the race and unless a woman is chosen as a VP candidate, I don’t see that there will be near the enthusiasm for the Dem candidates amongst women voters as they had for Clinton in ‘16. They’ll spice ol’ buzzards Bernie or Joe(who ever wins) as best as they can, bake them as best as they can and try to serve them as pretend turkeys at thanksgiving to the voters.
Logically I think it will come down to pairing Joe(Prez) and Bernie(VP) together in order to preserve peace with the Bernie-ites to try to keep the Bernie-ites from defecting or staying home in order to keep the congress. If by a miracle the pair does win, they can 25 amendment Biden and slip Bernie in. Float that rumor amongst otherwise disappointed Bernie-ites, they’d love that!
The real question is, will Bernie fight back or will he go down without a fight like he did last time - telling his supporters to vote for Biden, and proving once and for all that he has always been nothing more than controlled opposition?
Hey paesano :)
Yes it is.
