World health officials said Tuesday the case fatality rate for COVID-19 is 3.4% globally, higher than previous estimates of about 2%.
“Globally, about 3.4% of reported COVID-19 cases have died,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said during a press briefing at the agency’s headquarters in Geneva. In comparison, seasonal flu generally kills far fewer than 1% of those infected, he said.

They added that while much is known about the seasonal flu, such as how it’s transmitted and what treatments work to suppress the disease, that same information is still in question when it comes to the coronavirus.

I don’t believe the numbers out of Hubei at all. I think the rate of infection is at least 5X if not 10X to 20X the reported numbers. There is evidence of this in thousands of people being turned away from the hospitals and sick people on social media not even going to hospitals.
Its harder to fake the death numbers, though. China is a backwards communist country but there is no evidence that the death numbers are 5X, 10X or 20X the numbers China has reported.
If it was killing people less than 40 and China was dumping 1,000’s of bodies into mass graves 1918 style, somebody would notice.

That wasn’t me that made that quote. I copied and posted it.
It’s easy to fake death numbers. Remember the ‘hospitals’ they constructed so fast with no plumbing? Remember the stories from the crematorium workers about being short handed and burning over 100 bodies per day? Remember the extra 40 industrial incinerators brought in for ‘medical waste’ after the medical system had collapsed and no more medicine was being practiced? How about all the people welded into their apartments? All of this has multiple sources and none of it has been debunked to my knowledge (please feel free).
The ‘hospitals’ are morgues. At least 5000 bodies per day are burned, not counting the ones considered ‘medical waste’. I doubt there are Chinese Junks flying around under balloons like in the 5th Element feeding the people welded into their apartments or providing medical services.
I’ll be happy to be wrong on any and all counts if someone can prove it.
It’s easy for an authoritarian regime that restricts travel and communication to hide bodies.

I’m seeing too many people dismissing the lives of others as worthless because they are already in jeopardy due to age or health issues.
We are not dismissing their lives as worthless, we are simply stating THAT freaking out over their passing WHEN they already had compromised immune systems AND were very elderly is creating panic over NOTHING!! These patients would have also passed away had they contracted the seasonal flu when you are dealing with very ill elderly people you have to be extremely careful that they don’t even catch a common cold that is just the way it is!!! When we start having a number of deaths that are OUTSIDE of this assisted care facility THEN you can worry otherwise this is not something people should panic over!!!
So killing off old useless eaters at 34 times the normal rate is acceptable? Please explain how that’s okay.

3,198 deaths / 93,158 total confirmed cases = 3.43% fatality rate.
This is not a case fatality rate, since there are still 39,270 active cases.
This is a little worrisome.
By definition, the death rate is only determined by the number of confirmed cases. At this point, I know of no data on asymptomatic cases.
You are being ridiculous and being in a panic mode for absolutely no reason at all!! As I said elderly with very compromised immune systems can pass away from something as simple as a common cold people undergoing chemotherapy can become extremely ill and also pass away from something as simple as a common cold!!! That is a fact and it is not something to create hysteria over!!! This virus unfortunately was spread in a confined area with a lot of very elderly, very ill people it is not lime people are dying in the streets everywhere!!!

Look Uncle Miltie, my 90yr old mom lives with me and all I am saying is having her in my home I have to be extremely careful to not bring ANY kind of illness home with me!! I wash my hands all the time my house is absolutely immaculate when groceries are brought home everything is washed before putting it away, with any elderly person they can catch anything very easily and even a common cold is very dangerous for them!!! I am not panicking over this virus why are you???
I’d bet the so-called reinfections stem from false positives on their test. I’d bet money on it, because the immune system doesn’t forget nearly that quickly.
In the past week more people have died from the flu than have ever died from Coronavirus
An accurate deathrate cannot be determined until the spread has been contained and no new cases are reported.
Since so many cases can be so mild that one never realizes he/she is ‘sick”, there’s no way to get an accurate percentage...kind of like some kids getting treated for severe infections due to skinned knees - while millions of other kids get skinned knees and never have it brought up or mentioned because it didn’t go south.

The media kept reporting 2%, but if we divide total fatalities by total confirmed cases, the rate has been 3.4% from the beginning - right?

Total Confirmed Cases: 93,416
WHO has an agenda, not totally sure how much to trust.
But that’s world wide. There are too few cases in the US at this time to even calculate a mortality rate.
The CDC said “85% of cases are mild/Asymptomatic”
Almost NONE of these cases are counted in the “confirmed cases” outside of the US.
You had to have Pneumonia in China to even get tested. Not tested = Not confirmed.
85% not tested means the actual Number of cases is 4X - 5X the “confirmed” number.
That makes the 3.4% death rate 1% - .8% … Bad, but 4X lower than 3.4%.
Spanish Flu killed whole families. Across the US, there are mass graves in cemeteries that date back to 1918-1919.
There were very few 80 year olds to kill in 1918. Covid 19 isn’t really killing kids. This is bad, but it isn’t 1918 Spanish Flu.
