Tornadoes struck central Tennessee early Tuesday morning leaving at least nine people dead, multiple injured and thousands without power as high winds wreaked a trail of destruction.
One of the massive 'supercells' swept through downtown Nashville, knocking out power and tearing through buildings.
Nearly 44,000 were without power, according to Nashville Electric Service.
At least nine people have been killed and that death toll is expected to climb as authorities survey the dangers of a landscape littered with blown-down walls and roofs, snapped power lines and huge broken trees.

150% worse than corona virus.
THIS is the real reason you need supplies, people.
Not for the scare-flu 2020, but for very real tornadoes.
The flu won’t take your supplies and scatter them a mile away.
I live in south central KY. I have a few “micro dents” in my FR-s from the hail. It pounded ridiculously hard last night.
Sometimes, when that weather comes up from the gulf, we get a “mini” version of a hurricane. Fairly strong wind and ungodly amounts of rain.

Geography makes the USA the world leader in tornadoes.
Prayers for the families of those who lost loved ones, and prayers for those who lost property as well.
More will die from tornadoes this spring than from the virus.
If that storm had gone through the major tourist areas of Nashville, the damage to that city’s economy could be very large.
Night time tornadoes are so dangerous, hoping the fatality count doesnt climb..
Showing aerial footage on Weather Channel — looks bad.
This No-name tornado killed more people than the coronavirus so far.
We had similar straight line winds in our region about 12 years ago. Knocked down a huge oak on the access road to our subdivision. It was late spring and it literally took me 3 days to clean up the debris in the yard. Branches, limbs, twigs, leaves. A LOT of it carpeting the lawn. Would have killed the grass if I hadn’t gotten to is fairly quickly. I even had to get up on the roof and rake the tree pieces off.
Fortunately there was no damage to the house, but it was very frightening and hit and was done in about 5 minutes.
And very spotty. Some places were hit and others not, all in around a 40 Mile range. People at work half way didn’t believe me how bad it was until I showed pictures that I had taken (in case I had missed something and would have needed to make an insurance claim).
According to the CDC, in the US, there have been 18,000 deaths from the flu this year...
The “regular” flu, right?
You cannot watch a show on Fox Business that doesn’t sound panicked. Even Varney keeps warning us of an explosion of cases of corona as soon as they get the testing gear in place.
jeech.
Yep, “plain old flu” or whatever they’re calling it this week...
OMG!!!! This has never happened in all Tennessee history until “recently”!!!!! /s
Did President Trump get the vaunted "storm machine" that Dubya used in New Orleans years ago? That would explain the lack of tornado history in Tennessee until the Republicans got into office. LOL!
Not only Nashville, but Wilson County was hit hard as well with 2 schools, subdivisions, and warehouses and businesses damaged or destroyed.
Death toll is at 19 now.
