Side by Side is an advocacy group whose primary work involves creating supportive communities for LGBTQ youth. Lewis believes that this bill removes the "unnecessary and costly requirement of surgery," and it would allow transgender people "to have documentation of who they are." "This bill removes an unnecessary hurdle for transgender people," Lewis said.
This is the third year that Boysko has introduced this bill. Lawmakers also recently passed Boysko's bill requiring the Department of Education to develop policies concerning the treatment of transgender students in public elementary and secondary schools.
Senate Bill 657 now goes to the governors desk for approval.

As a conservative, Virginia resident I’m so disappointed. Same as America being “mostly red” and only the highly populated cities being “blue”, same issue applies here. 80% of the state (or more) geographically votes conservative. But we’ve been hijacked by the liberals who have moved here and taken over the coasts and Richmond area. So sad :(

A sub-branch of revisionist history. I was born male, but I’m wiping that out and super-imposing my new pseudo-reality now.

Is it just the gender that you can change? What about date and place? We could just call it the “Obama Cert”.

The left won’t be satisfied until this country is a smoking ruin. If that’s what they want then let’s git it on.

I can see it coming —
The birth certificate, a fully notarized official legal document, says that I am a woman. I am accused of murder, but the DNA evidence clearly shows that the crime was committed by a man. So, I must be innocent, right??

I own a small business that does work for government. I now identify as a woman for the purpose of getting preferential treatment on contract set-asides.
And I also am declaring my teenage sons to be women so they get lower car insurance.

The birth certificate is largely beside the point. It’s your DNA that counts. You’re either XX or XY. All the faked up birth certificates in the world won’t change your DNA a bit.

There is no need to change the birth record (from which the birth certificate is produced.) The sex, as determined (not assigned) at birth is the true sex.

Do you have to be transgender? Or can anyone get a new birth certificate in alignment with one's identity?
And is there a limit to the number of times one can take advantage of this opportunity?

That is asinine
Can’t I claim I was reborn and take back my birth name?
I was born a poor Black child and my name was stolen from me when at 9 I was adopted and my birth certificate radically changed by a man who’s blood I do not carry.
I have felt disenfranchised my entire life...
/S
That did happen but, I would never want to change my name back, as the man who adopted me shaped my life foundation.

Just wondering. Only men have to register for Selective Service. If we needed to implement a draft, how many men would officially “identify” as something oher than male to avoid it?
