...There have been protests on campus in support of the union workers, but the reaction of alumni is harder to gauge. At least one alum, someone who funds a scholarship, is expressing her disgust.

Susan L. Phillips, Oberlin College Class of 1976, is the former International Vice President of the Food and Commercial Workers Union and is a current labor consultant. Phillips established a summer social justice internship fund for Oberlin College students...

Not yet. They are appealing the verdict and have hired a high ‘falutin DC firm to handle it.

I’d give her something but I think we’re talking 2 different somethings.

A #### is a #### is a ####.

If one deserves kudos for that, then she deserves it.

The county sherriff should step in, hold an auction, and pay the people owed.

Love it. A key leader of a Communist Party established union is attacking a mini-Marxist school for “union busting”.

It just can’t get much better.

the UFCWU was created by a merger of the CPUSA led United Meatcutters and Butcher Workmen’s Union led by Soviet operative/identified CPUSA labor leader Abe Feinglass (I met him at CPUSA front meetings, along with his CP buddy Jack Spiegel and possibly Pat Gorman)). He was the protest leader in April 1971 who let John Kerry speak in D.C. Somewhere on the internet as the old websites for the Swiftboat Veterans for the Truth About John Kerry, you can find a picture of Feinglass talking to Kerry before he spoke. It is in an column roughly entitled “Did the KGB Use John Kerry...”?

As I recall the Meatcutters union merged with District 65 of the CPUSA dominated Distributive Workers Union led by CP supporter Al Evanoff and id. CPUSA labor leader David Livingston.

The Kerry-Feinglass article might be found at www.WinterSoldier.com if the site is still active.

Love it when “reds fight reds”. Sort of like Bernie Sanders versus Elizabeth Warren and Peter Buttigeig in the Democrat’s presidential candidates race.

United Meatcutters and Butcher Workmen’s Union

Did you mean the Amalgamated Meatcutters and Affiliated Butcher Workmen, or is that a different union?

From the article: "Consequently, if Oberlin succeeds in busting UAW Local 2192, the scholarship fund will be terminated permanently."

This would be a double win for sanity.

The entry above is from Wayback Machine, because the scholarship no longer appears on the Oberlin College website scholarship page because Phillips has suspended the scholarship in protest of the union layoffs.

How very socially just of her.

The college is cutting union payroll to survive so she punishes poor disadvantaged students.

Nothing says I’m all “woke” like harming the weakest when you are attacking the rich and powerful

she punishes poor disadvantaged students.

She is removing her financial support for "social justice" activism during the summers. The kids may have to get real jobs. That would be a win for them and a win for the country at large.

Seems to me she is cutting off her nose to spite her face. But at least she can signal her woke virtue.
