CBS News NY ^ | 2/27/20

CBS2 has learned hundreds of people are being monitored for possible coronavirus exposure in New York state.

The Health Department says 700 people in the state have been asked to voluntarily self-isolate for two weeks.

That includes 83 people in Nassau County, 29 in Suffolk County and eight in Westchester.

It’s important to point out there are no confirmed cases here, and no one in New York City or in New Jersey is being monitored.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says it’s not a matter of if, but when the coronavirus becomes a bigger issue in the United States.

California is monitoring at least 8,400 people for the coronavirus

They've been monitoring these people for weeks. So what. These are the people who came back from China. This is nothing new.

It’s come to Atlanta now too.

Now?

They been monitoring these people who came back for China for weeks. Every freekin state has some. Are we going to do a roll call over the next few weeks and pretend that this is all new, and that the problem is expanding.

It's not new, and so far in this country, just three people have contracted COVID-19 here.

Nobody in NYC but 700+ for the state?

Does this have De Blasio’s smudgy prints on it or what?

They expressly said to only test those returning from China or who had contact with someone returning from China.

With those guidelines it was an impossibility to detect community infection.

Then they crowed about no community infection being detected.

Trump unfortunately echoed them last night.

Got to give the folks credit who are staying home. Probably people who think they may have been in contact.

I’m worried about Amazon too. Someone said the 1918 pandemic was partially spread by US Mail...

I got a small package from Amazon that was running late and when I opened it I got that feeling of of wanting to touch my face. So I sprayed the area with disinfectant... Let’s hope whoever packed it had a cat - because I’m allergic to cats and they have a similar effect...

ebola spreads through direct bodily contact, OR through contact with a person’s bodily fluids- people sick with ebola have Diarrhea, vomit, sweating, drooling etc- and those working on them are at risk- while it wouldn’t be the pandemic coronovirus could become- it was still a huge risk that was unnecessary top be bringing into this country- endangering staff potentially who had to care for the infected- People with Ebola riding crowded subways ciould potentially pass it along to others who had broken skin, of sneezing fluids onto others- into their eyes etc

[[Ebola is a lot easier to catch than health officials have admitted — and can be contracted by contact with a doorknob contaminated by a sneeze from an infected person an hour or more before, experts told The Post Tuesday.

“If you are sniffling and sneezing, you produce microorganisms that can get on stuff in a room. If people touch them, they could be” infected, said Dr. Meryl Nass, of the Institute for Public Accuracy in Washington, DC.

Nass pointed to a poster the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention quietly released on its Web site saying the deadly virus can be spread through “droplets.”

“Droplet spread happens when germs traveling inside droplets that are coughed or sneezed from a sick person enter the eyes, nose or mouth of another person,” the poster states.]]

https://nypost.com/2014/10/29/cdc-admits-droplets-from-a-sneeze-could-spread-ebola/

Ebola wasn’t something we wanted to be bringing into our country EXCEPT under very strict conditions for treatment- Had that nurse in Maine been infected- she very well could have endangered other people by refusing to be quarantined

[[The coronavirus is a respiratory virus, transmissible through respiratory secretions, which may be on surfaces or in sprays from coughs and sneezes.]]

Please see the above article about the Ebola being spread the same way- Someone with ebola sneezes on a doorknob, or shopping cart or whatever- several hours later someone comes along touches the cart, then touches their eye, it apparently can be spread that way- and people touch their eyes, noses all throughout hte day without realizing it- it’s a subconscious act- that many people do-

While there is no scientific evidence that direct sneezing can spread ebola- there is no evidence that it can’t either- and if one can get ebola just from touching an infected doorknob that had the ebola on it, then it’s not unreasonable to assume it could be spread through coughing or sneezing, or vomiting, or through blood transmission to an open wound or some other manner-

Again, true, it wouldn’t have been the pandemic, but it was importing a very dangerous disease into our country possibly and the nurse refused to be quarantined out of precaution four others- it was very selfish of her to do so-

Ebola essentailly requires blood to blood contact. An open wound in contact with infected blood. It is a terrifying disease but not easily transmitted.

Airborn viruses are highly contagious. The common cold, influenza, and this Covid-19 bug. If one also has a high mortality rate you have a real problem.

“Mother Abigail”, the retired CDC scientist who once posted here, believed that a hybrid flu would the one disease capable of delivering a near-extinction event. This Covid virus is similar to flu. Not the crowd killer that Mother Abigail is expecting but it may be dangerous all the same. It’s certainly doing something ugly to China.

It is doing something ugly to China because China has the absolute worst hygiene requirements, it is a communist country with abhorrent medical facilities and treatment, they eat things that humans should NEVER put past their lips markets and restaurants are filthy no health standards AND they don’t give a damn about their citizens!!

[please see my latest posts- apparently it’s not just blood to blood contact according to the CDC in the link i posted- There are other studies that suggest what the CDC stated too-

There is evidence it’s not just in a person’s blood- it’s also in other bodily fluids like saliva, milk, etc- Here’s a vox article on it- in the article, they have several links to studies dun to show that it can live in other fluids- and spread apparently-

https://www.vox.com/2014/10/1/6878695/ebola-virus-outbreak-symptoms

Also in africa- it’s not being spread solely by open wounds- which is why it slams areas and those working on infected patients-

Mostly it is through blood to blood contact- but it can also apparently spread through other bodily fluids and contact- a person touching a door knob or shopping cart handle where vomit, or sneeze material lands and then touches their eye can evidently spread it as the ebola transmits through the mucus membranes
