Bernie Sanders: Last Step in America's Slide to Socialism?
American Thinker.com ^ | February 27, 2020 | Fletch Daniels

There can no longer be any doubt that Bolshevik Bernie Sanders is a runaway freight train with the Democrat establishment tied to the tracks in front of him near a stop called Super Tuesday.

Sanders absolutely steamrolled the field in Nevada, creating the sadly funny optic of Joe Biden celebrating like it was 1999, apparently thrilled that Sanders won only around 2.5 times as many votes as he did.

If Sanders can keep his Havana daydreaming under control, he will sail to the convention with the lion's share of the delegates provided by actual voters. Considering the voting coalition he pulled together in Nevada and the laws of political momentum, it is a good bet he may secure a majority of delegates and not just a plurality.

Democrats are almost out of time to change the trajectory of the race, although it remains to be seen if Sanders fantasizing about Cuban literacy rates slows him down. Some Democrats are begging the New York Nondisclosure Agreement to carpet bomb the airwaves and social media with attacks on Sanders knowing that if Sanders sails into the convention with a significant lead, they will be left holding a menu with a couple of equally horrible choices, the political equivalent of Brussels sprouts or liver and onion.

Their hope to pull off a convention bait and switch works only if somebody can keep the delegate count close. But who can pull it off? Mike Bloomberg? Not without a charisma transplant and the removal of layers of baggage. So far, he and Shrill Indian have combined to net one more delegate than is currently in the hands of the candidate from Minnesota who nobody has noticed is in the race.

Bernie Sanders is a Communist.

The Bernie Bros are Communists.

Let’s stop helping them by calling them Socialists.

Sanders was (is) a Trotskyite.

Sanders supported the Socialist Workers Party candidate Andrew Pulley in 1980 against Ronald Regan:

The SWP’s position on Iran is part of what distinguishes it from democratic socialist groups. When its presidential candidate, Andrew Pulley, came to speak at the University of Vermont in October 1980, Sanders chaired the meeting. Pulley attracted only 40 students to his rally, where he concentrated, according to the SWP’s newspaper The Militant, “on the Iran-Iraq war,” and condemned “anti-Iranian hysteria around the U.S. hostages.” Military action against Iran was not at that point theoretical — Pulley’s speech came six months after the attempt to free the hostages in Operation Eagle Claw had failed. ...
Six months after the 1980 election, on May 21, 1981, Sanders spoke at another Pulley rally. “For the last 40 years,” Sanders said, “the Socialist Workers Party has… been harassed, informed upon, had their offices broken into, had members of their party fired from their jobs, and have been treated with cold contempt by the United States government.” Even worse, he went on, apparently referring to the Iranian hostage crisis, “now anybody who stands up and fights and says things is automatically a terrorist.” He claimed that he had been investigated himself by the FBI because “I was an elector for the Socialist Workers Party,” referring to his formal role in the 1980 election with the Trotskyists.

Socialism doesn’t work.

It never has, and it never will.

Just not for the other animals.

No, there’s quite a few steps after Bernie, and they’re all much worse.

Bernie and the Squad with some others are a pretty tight analogue of the Bolsheviks in 1917 with the rest of the Democrat Party being the Mensheviks. I expect that the Bernsheviki will divide the Party after the election if they lose and purge the Party severely if they win. The victorious leaders, Bernie et al or whoever within their ranks then overturns them will define the rest of the Party out.

Well if you think a 60/40 ass kicking is a step toward socialism in the greatest economy in history then yes it is a step toward socialism; otherwise not so much. Stupid premise go away.

I have to agree.

Even if he loses he is going to move the ball another 30 yards downfield in that direction.

We’re already well down the road toward socialism. There isn’t a single thing that the government does not regulate, tax, control or influence in various ways. Look around your own home and you’ll notice that practiaclly everything in sight is subject to some type of government regulation.

The reality is that government (at all levels) already influences our lives in countless ways. We have been the proverbial frog in the boiling pot that didn’t notice the ever increasing “temperature” of expanding government control. In fact, we did little to stop it and it grew and grew.

It’s not the last step but it is a step.

This is not something I can understand at all. Maybe this is how older people felt during the 60’s Hippie Movement.

He’s got some truly frightening characters working for him, and that does not seem to bother him at all.

I’m definitely not going to put up with being oppressed.

Certainly not by cowards who wear masks.

Three possibilities:

- President Trump crushes a far-left globalist in 2020, and the less insane democrats put out the effort needed to stifle the terrorist wing of their party, returning to at least superficial patriotism, in an effort to support the old democrat agenda rather than full-blown socialism,

- President Trump crushes a far-left globalist in 2020, the more insane communist/socialist/democrats put out the effort needed to win in 2024, and things get unimaginably ugly in 2025, or

- President Trump loses to global socialism in 2020, and things get unimaginably ugly in 2021.

I am not optimistic on our country’s ability to find a path through this minefield, not with so many bomb throwers on the sidelines trying to take us down.

The Bernie Bros are busy planning in the swing states. I think there will be acts of violence to deter non-Bernie voters from going to the polls. Fear is a strong motivator.

A Sanders electoral win is NOT inconceivable and it would almost certainly carry the House and the Senate along with it. That would likely finally junk the Constitution and bring us to some sort of confrontation with armed Americans with the military either standing aloof or deciding the contest.

IF Sanders wins and the Bolsheviks now in control can maintain patience and govern fairly benignly for two years before they move then the military can be largely neutered as Clinton and Carter neutered it but more effectively. All leftists from mild liberals to Trotskyites hate and fear the organized military and when they come to power they move to decapitate it by retiring or imprisoning or suiciding the top officers, especially those with any combat experience and all commanders who command actual troops rather than desks.

We would also have a Congress whose Houses begin to pass on the eligibility and expel its non Bolshevik members.
I do not share the views of several respected conservative commentators that Bernie needs to be promoted by our guys voting for him in open primaries.
I agree with Savage that he is a very dangerous man. The rest of the Democrat field are in the socialist category shading to Communist with Buttgig but are probably less driven and less competent and more purely self serving.
Bernie is not a fool and not incompetent. He is a throwback model of one any number of the comrades around Lenin in 1917.

Do not doubt the determination of the marxists who call themselves “democrat socialists.” They will do whatever they can to destroy this country, and then rebuild it up again on a marxist model.

While Bernie has little chance of beating Trump, his getting the nomination will finish the convertion the Democratic party to socialism. His Medicare for all and Green New Deal have been largely embraced by all the other candidates and will be the bulwarks of the party in 2024. The Democratic party of JFK, LBJ and Hubert Humphrey is now all but extinct. Pelosi, Schumer and others are dinosaurs while radicals like the squad will be the new face of the party and in control. I still cannot beieve that Bernie’s open admiration of Castro did littlebto.even slow his campsign
