MILWAUKEE — Seven people, including the shooter, are dead in an attack Wednesday afternoon near Molson Coors’ Milwaukee campus, a report from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett confirmed the shooter is dead.

The campus is located near 38th and State Streets in Milwaukee. Police are asking people to clear the area at this time.

Molson Coors told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel there was an active shooter on its campus and employees have been ordered to find a safe place to hide.

Sources tell WTMJ News in Milwaukee there are multiple causalities.

The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office said it has not been called to the scene as of 3:20 p.m. However, employees said that is not uncommon since police are working to stabilize the scene.

Officers from the Milwaukee Police Department, Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Office, Marquette University Police Department and U.S. Marshals are responding, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The Wisconsin Humane Society was placed on lock down as a result of reports of an active shooter. In a Facebook post, staff said that its campus is closed and all adoptions are on hold until further notice.

Police are expected to provide an update to the media soon. News 3 Now has a crew headed to Milwaukee and will update this article once more information is released.

Wisconsin State Sen. LaTonya Johnson and State Rep. Evan Goyke issued a statement on the shooting.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of those who were killed or injured in the devastating workplace shooting Milwaukee on Wednesday. Our hearts go out to everyone affected during this unimaginable time. Acts of violence like this shake our communities to their core. We all deserve to feel safe at home, at work, and in our community. We are grateful to the first responders and law enforcement personnel who responded to this tragic incident. We appreciate their brave work and dedication to our community. Molson Coors is a part of our community and we are a part of theirs. They have been a part of Milwaukee’s near west side for over 100 years. We grieve over the loss of life and pledge to work to build the safest community we can. We are grateful for all that Molson Coors has done in conjunction with the Near Westside Partners to bring our neighborhoods together.”

What state are you from?

Wisconsin is relatively safe and our legislature is controlled by conservatives. Our cold winters keep the riff-raff away.

One of my favorite memories as a kid was the smell of brewer’s yeast wafting through the air. ;)

All of my Uncles were cops, firemen or worked for Miller.

Milwaukee was a great place to grow up - and then move away from. ;)
