First and foremost, were there burns to the skin around the entry wound, and was there residual powder on the victim's clothes and hands indicating he was the one who pulled the trigger? If so, was the residue pattern indicative of the victim having control of the weapon, and not a second party or unknown object absorbing some powder discharge from the bullet?
