A viral outbreak that began in China has infected more than 80,000 people globally. The World Health Organization has named the illness COVID-19, referring to its origin late last year and the coronavirus that causes it.
The latest figures reported by each government’s health authority as of Tuesday in Beijing:
— Mainland China: 2,663 deaths among 77,658 cases, mostly in the central province of Hubei
— Hong Kong: 81 cases, 2 deaths
— Macao: 10 cases
— South Korea: 977 cases, 11 deaths
— Japan: 860 cases, including 691 from a cruise ship docked in Yokohama, 4 deaths
— Italy: 283 cases, 7 deaths
— Iran: 95 cases, 15 deaths
— Singapore: 89 cases
— Thailand: 37 cases
— United States: 35 cases; separately, 1 U.S. citizen died in China
— Taiwan: 30 cases, 1 death
— Australia: 23 cases
— Malaysia: 22

I found it interesting, too, to read yesterday of a sudden, ‘blow up’ of cases in Italy. Weird.
I largely agree with you on that. We’re not getting honest stats out of China and we may never get them.
There have been a couple kids brought out of the Wuhan area and at least one was quickly treated and cured in Malaysia. I think we can expect far more reliable data from the more free Asian countries in the area - but it will be fascinating to see what mix of the recoveries or fatalities will end up being attributed to culturally related, environmentally related or genetically related factors, over and above the qualities of the medical systems available to the victims.

Let’s assume the Chinese are lying.
But it’s fascinating that our own media is being used as a propaganda arm. Look at how this hurts globalists.
1. Closing borders and border security are necessary.
2. The decoupling of our economy with China.
3. Production and manufacturing here will be needed for things like drugs and computers which we previously had exported.
4. It shows the top down socialism governments lie, murder their own citizens, and are incapable of combating a true crisis.
5. It shows nationalizing healthcare is a terrible idea.
6. Eventually desperate governments will blame the U. S. saying this is a bio weapon and it may be the cause of war. A regime facing decapitation will lash out at outside enemies to save themselves.
I expect the Dems and MSM are planning to call this “Trump’s Katrina” and try to blame him for the disaster.

They will be trumpeting any economic problems, too. "Trump's recission."
Iran seems to have an unusually high death rate... Maybe some of those were hastened along, or maybe it was a cover for the murder of dissidents?
And throw them into a soon-to-be boarded up apartment building and throw away the key.
What better way to cover up mass murder of unwanted citizens?

I tend to agree. The death rate outside of China appears to be much less than 2%. If you’re a healthy person in a First World situation, you’re much more likely to survive this, it seems, than the average Red Chinese.
The problem is that people like Rush for what appears to be the only time in his life is actually believing everything the Chicoms are saying about their numbers. Communist lie, always have, always will. If we had true numbers from the Chicoms it would be reassuring, then again the way the DOJ/FBI/CIA etc... have lied the last four years about the 2016 election alone gives me pause not to believe anything the government is telling us. They seem to lie even when it is easier to tell the truth.

I just wish we had some honesty. If the survival rates are really low, I’d like to know that. If they are not, I’d like to know that too.
Sister-in-law lives in Japan and is starting to panic. But she is paranoid.
It was 2% last week coring to my father-in-law.
