Bernie Sanders unexpectedly released a fact-sheet Monday night explaining that he'd pay for his sweeping new government programs through new taxes and massive lawsuits against the fossil fuel industry, as well as by slashing spending on the military, among other methods.
The move sought to head off complaints from Republicans and some rival Democrats that his plans were economically unrealistic, especially after a head-turning CBS News interview in which the frustrated Vermont senator said he couldn't "rattle off to you every nickle and every dime" about his proposed expenditures.
He released his plan on his website just minutes after promising to do so during a CNN town hall.

50% tax for all!
Why do people keep voting for this fool? Hasn’t the unworkability and immorality of these schemes of his been obvious all along?
Democrats running for office need to be asked if they agree with this. Hell, Put these up for a vote now and see where the rank and file Dems stand
You too can be Venezuela...
Another plus is that an oil import duty would give political cover for further income tax rate reduction. Another WIN.
Balderdascious drivel.
After watching the President’s news conference this morning it was plain to me that you need to move to India where you would be intellectually comfortable.
A bit too much truth-telling here. Look for Bernie to have a another little heart attack.
This is the truth you CAN'T handle. If a tariff is socialistic then the USA was founded as a socialist country.
Another plus is that an oil import duty would give political cover for further income tax rate reduction. Another WIN.
This cannot be said loud enough or often enough.
Such drivel is a waste of precious band width.
It is in truth anti American garbage
You really now how to piece together a strong and detailed rebuttal. /sarcasm
The people who are voting for him have no jobs or are pea green with envy over people who have some wealth.
So does this really establish the courts not as a place for legal justice, but simply as a tax mechanism? And shouldn’t all budgetary bills begin in the House rather than the courtroom?
So what Bernie is saying is he’d go full out commie and no more of this incremental Obama lite stuff.
The aim to turn the United States into a third world shitehole is on the table.
I read all of Bernie’s “How To Pay For It All” plan..
While anyone with an ounce of economic sense can see the glaringly obvious holes in the plan, I fear there are plenty of people (probably north of 40 or even 50%) in the US today that have little to NO economic sense and will probably think it all looks just fine...after all, it’s all the usual leftist ‘tax the rich..tax the oil companies..tax evil Wall Street’ blah blah blah..which many people soak right up.
I’ll probably be in the minority here, but Bernie putting out ANYTHING on how he “plans” to pay for all his pie in the sky fantasy spending is going to be adequate for many, many people - regardless of if it makes an ounce of economic sense.
So, I actually think this helps him..ridiculous as it may be to any of us that went through Econ 101 in college..
I agree.
If anyone says Bernie has no idea how to pay for this, the ready answer now is: Thats been debunked.
“Im a bit surprised he opted for lawsuits as opposed to nationalizing fossil fuel companies. Perhaps thats Step 2.”
If you sue an industry out of existence, who other than the government is primed to take over.
For part one, see Arthur Anderson, the now defunct company.
LOL. I really hope he gets the nomination. At least he’s honest about what he wants. Sad that so many people in this country think these are good things.
Biden doesn’t even know what he is running for. https://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3819283/posts
I appreciate the Bern’s honesty, this is a fight we need to have.
