Singapore reported the discharge from hospital of two recovered coronavirus patients on Monday, marking the fourth consecutive day that the total number of discharged patients has been higher than the number of infected ones.
In all, 53 of the countrys 90 cases have fully recovered from the infection, the Health Ministry said in a statement, with one more case linked to a pre-existing cluster at The Life Church and Missions Singapore also being confirmed.

The city state has been working closely with the World Health Organisation and other countries, Lee said in the letter, pointing to early indications that the outbreak was being brought under control.

Out early? I read earlier today that the quarantine now needs to be extended to 28 days or more. A lot of guessing going on and if the quarantine is not long enough, all these efforts to stop the spread will completely fail.
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Questions:
1. What are the chances a “recovered” patient might still be a carrier?
2. Is it possible for a recovered patient to be reinfected? Or has he gained immunity?
nonsense! according to some on here ... its PANIC TIME!!!
RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!
the fake news media said so !
ROFL
“Out early?”
I don’t understand ...
Singapore is like China, majority Han Chinese.
And another deep state plot falls flat.
and another FReeper believes propaganda put out by the Chinese Communist Party.
Singapore isnt run by the CCP.
I just hope there wont be any more community transmission like the south korea are experiencing now.
People are recovering quite well and in many cases at home in Western countries.
It just doesn’t seem like it’s gonna kill a whole heck of a lot of people, except the elderly or already ill.
That’s a good thing.
I think a lot of people will get it...so we shall have to see.
I did some reading on the Spanish flu epidemic and it was brutal once it popped up somewhere from day 1.
But one never knows. Time will tell.
“I did some reading on the Spanish flu epidemic and it was brutal once it popped up somewhere from day 1.”
Not so much brutal on its first appearance but when it came back in the fall...
All of these numbers need to come with a confidence interval...
How’d it come back?
Dormant infections blooming?
I know I’ve gotten bronchitis AFTER having bronchitis a few months earlier.
Just once. But it sucked.
Functional Crystal Balls would be SO useful in these matters.
A couple of ones for the Stock Market couldn’t hurt...
:)
Yeah there are so many variables.
But companies that rely on China a lot will either adjust quickly or hurt badly.
AAPL comes to mind
The long run is good news when we figure out how to be less dependent on China.
The initial quarantine period was 14 days but reports are now suggesting it needs to be 28 days and worse that people seemingly clear or recovered are again getting sick.
