The top election security official for the intelligence community, Shelby Pierson, reportedly misled members of the House Intelligence Committee during a briefing on Russia's efforts to interfere in the 2020 election, with the goal of helping President Donald Trump, according to three national security officials familiar with the matter as well as National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien.
Pierson reportedly told lawmakers that Russia was interfering in the 2020 election with the aim of helping President Trump win re-election, despite no evidence suggesting that was Russia's intention. Concerns over the lack of evidence backing Pierson's claim were raised in response to a New York Times' report about the intelligence briefing, making vague assertions that Russia's efforts were intended to help the president's bid for re-election. Members of the intelligence community are now saying there is no evidence to back up Pierson's claim.

Pierson's characterization of Russian interference led to pointed questions from lawmakers, which officials said caused Pierson to overstep and assert that Russia has a preference for Trump to be reelected.
One intelligence official said that Pierson's characterization of the intelligence was "misleading" and a national security official said Pierson failed to provide the "nuance" needed to accurately convey the US intelligence conclusions.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence, where Pierson is a senior official, did not respond to CNN's request for comment.
Trump has been periodically briefed on Russian interference in the 2020 election, but was upset when he learned of Pierson's characterization of the intelligence in part because intelligence officials had not characterized the interference as explicitly pro-Trump. One national security official said Russia's only clear aim, as of now, is to sow discord in the United States.
On Sunday, President Trump accused House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff of leaking the misleading assessment by Shelby Person to the news media. National Security Adviser Robert O'Brien appeared on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday, saying that he has seen no evidence to suggest Russia was attempting to interfere in the U.S. election in order to help the president.
"I've seen the reports from that briefing at the intel committee ... O'Brien said on Sunday, "who knows what happened over at the House and the Intelligence Committee, but I haven't seen any evidence that Russia's doing anything to attempt to get President Trump re-elected."
If Trump wins re-election, it looks like Democrats don't plan on accepting those results either.
Someone’s career in the federal government should have just come to an end.
Absolutely, and probably more than one was involved.
Schiff needs to be arrested.
[shrug] mistakes were made.
Maybe she is clairvoyant.
And be tossed in federal jailcfor a bunch of years.

And the ICIG just happened to change the Rules for the Whistleblower.
There are no Senate / House Investigations of any of it.
The Senate Hearings on Biden, after Impeachment, were Lies.
“Members of the intelligence community are now saying there is no evidence to back up Pierson’s claim.”
Has any democratic had any evidence to back up anything they’ve said for the past 3+ years?
Expect Shelby Pierson’s tenure to be pruned posthaste.

Appointed by: Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats
Assumed office: July 2019
“There are no Senate / House Investigations of any of it.”
GOP doesn’t have the votes to initiate an investigation in the House. However, they should be screaming for one.
In the Senate Graham controls the Judiciary Committee and Burr is chairman of Intelligence. Graham has demonstrated consistently he will run his mouth but will not take any action against the intelligence agencies. Burr doesn’t do anything unless the minority leader of his committee, Warner, approves so he can claim “bipartisanship”. Warner isn’t going to agree to any investigation of an intelligence bureaucrat, any Democrat, or any topic that might help Trump.
The GOP continues to play nice. The Democrats don’t. Same play I’ve watched for over 40 years in Washington. Anyone who believes voting Republican for House or Senate will change anything is kidding themselves. People who don’t want to fight are never going to fight.
Shelby Pierson, a more than two-decade intelligence community veteran, has been appointed by Director of National Intelligence and a 2019 Wash100 winner Dan Coats to the newly created role of IC election threats executive.
She will serve as Coats principal adviser on election-related threats and coordinate all programs and activities associated with election security across the IC, the office of the DNI said Friday.
Election security is an enduring challenge and a top priority for the IC, Coats said. There is no one more qualified to serve as the very first Election Threats Executive than Shelby Pierson, whose knowledge and experience make her the right person to lead this critical mission.
In life, timing is the most important thing. To wit: Shelby Pierson, a Deep State co-conspirator in the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, spreads a lie to Chairman Adam Schiff who promptly leaks it to the New York Times. She is caught. Meanwhile, Ambassador Grennel takes up his new position as the Acting Director of National Intelligence, with orders from the President of the United States to “clean house” over there. Not good move, Shelby, not a good move at all.
Pierson told the House Intelligence Committee on February 13, 2020, that Russia is working to help get Donald Trump re-elected.[10][11] It was later clarified this information was incorrect, and while that Russia was working to interfere with the election, there was no evidence the interference was aimed at supporting Trump. [12]
The day afterward, Trump berated her supervisor, acting director of national intelligence Joseph Maguire, for allowing the briefing. Trump worried that Democrats might “weaponize” the information against him.[10] On February 19, 2020, Trump replaced Maguire with Richard Grenell, considered a Trump loyalist, as acting director of national intelligence, effective immediately.[13]
