Just found this - others have probably seen it but could not find it when did a search here.
Another unsung but awesome deed by our President, speaking at the commencement of the Hope for Prisoners graduation ceremony in Las Vegas.
The President starts speaking at 50:07.
Do they hand out 1 gun and 1 knife with the diploma? :)
Worth listing too.
Yes it is.
The President hinted that he is working on pardoning the man who leads this organization......hope he does this.
It’d be great if Don would tell us who Number 1 was and who ran the village.
I couldn’t resist The Prisoner reference.
Jon Ponder deserves a pardon as reward for this fine body of work! If only one life is changed it is worth it!
Yes indeed. John Ponder is his name - a very well spoken man - and it appears this is a faith-based organization....so God has done a real change in this man’s life. I agree and hope for sure that he gets that full pardon.
Big deal. I’ll get excited when he is asked to speak at an Ivy League commencement ceremony or a major state university.
Hundreds of conservative/libertarian commentators, academics, and politicians are overlooked in the cause of
ideological purity.
And ain’t nothin’ gonna happen.
Thanks Freedom'sWorthIt. Take that, Mister Stop-and-Frisk.
Thanks for that link.
Exactly.
I know this is not a very popular topic.
To me it’s just another way the President is reaching out to the forgotten people of this country and, specifically, to the African-Americans who populate the prisons so signifcantly.
One obstacle to people trying to reenter the workforce after a prison term is, well, trying to reenter the workforce. The President comes to talk to you, and you’re going into a boomin’ economy, well, word of mouth is definitely in the right direction.
Yes.
You have a great nick’, by the way. :^)
Oh, thank you!
It’s only 20+ years old...and I mean what it says..... :-)
