After Nevada Win, Bernie Sanders Can Only Be Stopped at Great Cost to Democrats
Washinton Examiner ^ | February 22, 2020 | Philip Klein

After racking up a big win in Nevada, Sen. Bernie Sanders is in a commanding position in the 2020 Democratic presidential race...we’ve reached the point where it will be hard for establishment Democrats to stop him without inflicting a great cost on their eventual nominee...The only way to avoid that outcome at this point would seem to be either have all other candidates drop out and unite around one of the more center-left Democrats...Or, alternatively, have Bloomberg unload a blizzard of negative ads targeting Sanders.

“Those billboards are so bad that I almost think Bloomberg is secretly in the race to help Trump.”

Like the old saying goes, “The Left can’t meme.”

Speaking for myself, that's already happened in Pennsylvania and our primary isn't until April 28th.

However, it may put Bloomberg in a serious position to challenge Bernie on Super Tuesday. We've only had two caucus states and a next door primary state check in at this point.

Love that idea. Why hasn't it happened yet? University endowments make sure it won't happen: Harvard university has 47 of its alumni serving in the House of Representatives and the Senate as of 2014, not to mention Yalies, etc.

About 1.1 million voted in Nevada in 2016. Why is it assumed that 47% of the Bolshie vote in Nevada is going to vote for Burnme. 47% of the Nevada caucus vote was 3,500, 53% did not vote for Burnme.

I do not understand the fascination the media has that extrapolates 3500(caucus votes for Burnme)/540000(2016 votes for Hitlery) to a Burnme win in Nevada.

Seems ridiculous on the face of it. The Democrats have held exactly 2 caucuses and a single primary... none of them in major electoral states. And it’s OVER??? I’m barely old enough to remember Bobby Kennedy jumping into the ‘68 race and winning the rather late California primary. I grant you that they Kennedy dynamic was at play, but jeeze!

Bernie is ot yet in a commanding position. California alone can erase his perceived lead.

The blue cities will decide the issue

At this point the only way the Democrat Establishment can stop Breadline Bernie is by screwing him over at the convention....which will initiate a civil war within the party and maybe even a split from the party of about 1/3rd of their voters.

Its so beautiful. Be stuck with a gimp candidate who will lose and will probably really hurt down ballot Democrat candidates OR....split the party which will also result in disaster. Ahhhhhhh! :^)

“A vp I might add that could still run for Prez 2 more times.”

... but serve no more than 10 years, total. So they can’t pull that stunt before the Bernie’s first mid-term election.

“I think the loans should be written down to say 10 to 20 cents on the dollar or allowed to be included in any bankruptsy proceedings for those who simply can’t pay them.”

As a practical matter what you are proposing must be done, but it’s a matter of who does it and when. This might be something Trump does in his second-term to set-up his successor for the next election. I just don’t see it happening before this election by Trump. Right now it’s a political anchor that’s dragging the entire Democrat field under.

Given Burney’s cardiac history, Arkancide would arouse little suspicion.

The presidency of the United States is an incredibly demanding and exhausting job and you are on duty 24/7 for between 4-8 years. This is why the job tends to prematurely age those that hold it.

Breadline Bernie has never worked hard in his life. He is simply not up to the task and as we move deeper into the campaign, it will become more and more obvious.

Trump is a rare exception to the premature aging rule. He worked so hard and tirelessly his entire adult life that the presidency is perhaps more relaxing then the lifestyle he had prior. This is why Trump actually looks YOUNGER after three years in the White House.

When I was growing up, my father charred everything that went on the backyard grill. Whether it was hamburgers, hot dogs or steaks, it was all black on the outside and very well-done on the inside. As a result, I spent my early adult years ordering steak (and any other meat) well done, usually to the groans of those dining with me. But that's what I was used to and I knew no other way. I did not mind eating burnt meat!

Later in life, I came to appreciate meats, especially steaks, cooked on the rare side. But that taste was slowly acquired.

So I'm thinking Trump's Dad, busy man that he was, had the same grilling techniques of my Dad, just slap it on the grill and let it char.

Well the Dems are definately going to manipulate the process along the way to try and edge Bernie out....but his face is so red now it’s easy to question how long he’ll hold out health wise in the game. Obviously he’s already shown despite his health he’s in it to deaths door.

There were many more votes than that. Bernie’s kids walked all over the other factions. The Democrat establishment is getting old and decomposing.
