New York is combatting anti-Semitism with a new ad campaign featured in Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish print and digital outlets, in addition to social media.
The New York City Commission on Human Rights launched a campaign to fight religious harassment and discrimination and to emphasize the citys support for its Jewish population. The commission said in a release that the campaign was in response to rising anti-Semitic incidents in the city, the surrounding area and the country.
One of the new ads reads, Jewish New Yorkers belong here. Anti-Semitism does not.
The advertisements will be featured in Orthodox and Hasidic Jewish print outlets such as Hamodia, Jewish Press and Mishpacha, as well as online at The Jewish Week and in the NYC Human Rights Commissions social media.
Carmelyn Malalis, the chair and commission of the NYC Commission on Human Rights, called the increasing number of anti-Semitic incidents and violent attacks such as those in Jersey City, N.J., and Monsey, N.Y. unacceptable.
Every New Yorker has the right to practice their religion, celebrate with loved ones, and be who they are proudly and without fear of harassment, discrimination, or violence, Malalis said.
New York City is a city for all of us. Its strength lies in its diversity, in how we come together to celebrate and look out for one another, she added.
One full-page ad opens by saying, Anti-Semitism has no place in New York City before detailing how people could report harassment and discrimination.

This is just money changing hands to appease a constituency. Discouraging anti-semitism has nothing to do with it.
Any bets that the ads show white conservatives as the bad guys and won’t remotely touch the issue of blacks and other minorities committing a lot of these crimes?
“This is just money changing hands to appease a constituency. Discouraging anti-semitism has nothing to do with it.”
Yep. And it’s not even the victims (Orthodox) who will be appeased, but apikorsim Jews who haven’t seen the inside of a shul since they were 13.
I’d prefer the money be spent on bats to given every Orthodox to carry — since pistols and, you know, actual police are not permitted.
Instead of addressing the problem where it is, this is just buying ad space in their print and digital media outlets.
They’re assuming the offenders can read.
Dangerously Intolerant Liberals Destroying Our Society = DILDOS
Just as useless as gun free zone signs but the connected ad companies are ok with it.
“...Its strength lies in its diversity..”
There is no hope...forget about it.
Applying such a policy to NYC and the nation would make entirely too much sense !
What would politicians, lawyers and the media do without the ongoing insanity we see in our legal system?
Yeah, seems like a subsidy to Jewish media outlets more than anything else.
Do the black thugs committing these crimes watch or read ads?
Maybe they can get some of the same white, middle class home invaders from the alarm company commercials to star in these ads as guys bashing Jews?
Eye roll. Is this going to be like the “Don’t Diss Your Siss” campaign from Dinkins?
If it had to do with discouraging anti-Semitism, why is it only in Hasidic and Orthodox outlets? This is crap.
They should hire Mel Brooks.
Or Muslims?
An ad campaign! Eureka! Why didn’t anyone ever try that in Germany! “Juden weren nischt farflufen” would have worked miracles! During the bubonic plague, they could have signs saying “ Ye Jooos! didnae bring ye blacke death. ‘twere witches, aye trow.” Or “Nae blud gaeyeth intu the maeking of matza. His Maejesty quoth ‘out upon ye bubbe mayseh, me leal subjects. ‘tis nowt but flowr and water.’”.
