I respectfully disagree. While theoretically independent, none have ever been. So what President Trump has to say should just be ignored, and he just needs to do his job, period. Just state that you are doing what is right for this country, and that you are not swayed by what the President, the media, or members of the opposition party have to say. Get my point now?

As you said, Trump does not see the Justice Department as an independent government agency. He see's himself as "chief law enforcement officer" and as long as he has that view then his directions to the Justice Department, however they come, are directions from the President and he expects to be obeyed. Barr's whining on TV about how they make is job impossible is just that, whining. He's not going to quit, so he needs to do what the President tells him to. That's his job now.
Just state that you are doing what is right for this country, and that you are not swayed by what the President, the media, or members of the opposition party have to say.

What, apart from the Supreme Court, is the role of the federal judiciary? It seems almost all of their cases are characterized by one or more of the following:
1) Bigfooting local and state judges by overruling, injunction, etc.
2) Redundant prosecutions and/or punishments. How many times do we hear 'federal charges may be brought?' Why? Every state has plenty of laws on its books with near-total overlap with the US code.
but the biggest is:
3) Using the power of the judiciary to enforce the political flavor of the month. The scam is so common we tend not to notice it. The left wants a group to have political clout so that politicians can hammer 'opponents' (who didn't even exist until yesterday) with it. Transgenderism is an ideal current example. Suddenly federal judges, who claim they only take cases that are assigned to them, are in a position to give judicial notice to the 'science' of transgenderism which will inevitably lead to at least one judge claiming this madness has legal standing in discrimination and other law.
Federal cases in particular so often involve a heretofore unknown 'crime' or a complaint brought by political hacks like the ACLU. They magically get placed on the docket and the case is magically sped through the process - because political hacks work in DOJ and the courts too. Suddenly the plight of Johnny showering with Jill at school is all-important and consuming - even though Johnny is just a pawn and the case a Trojan horse for more judicial activism.
The same thing has been done with race, abortion, homosexuality even the so-called religious rights of scumbag convicts in prisons.
The judges know full well that cowardly legislators who fear electoral losses will never take firm positions on many issues - this only bolsters the judges' arrogance as their rulings are usually less a verdict on a case and more an attempt at unilateral and typically irreversible social engineering.
So, as is often the case, Henninger is both wrong and attempting to mislead by praising that which is unworthy of praise.
I agree with virtually everything you stated except Rudy Giuliani for AG. On that, I am not firmly attached. We certainly have a very serious Fed Gov weaponization that has to change or it will lead to civil conflict.
Barr needs to get off his bag pipes and indict some people, or nobody will every trust the FBI, DOJ, EPA, IRS, or federal government as independent agencies. Nobody (rightly so) should trust the CIA.
Remember...Trump represents and works for US, not them. And thank goodness he does.
That’s why he doesn’t care about their sensibilities (and that includes Barr who is simpatico with the establishment). The corrupt do-nothing DC establishment needs to be exposed in the harshest of ways. The more of it the better.

I think Trump has figured out that as long as he puts the word ‘Acting’ in front of any Cabinet position, he doesn’t need Congressional approval, and his picks can serve as long as Trump likes.
So yes, I think Trump has Rudy in waiting in the wings in case Barr gets weak-kneed, which I highly doubt.

The chances of that are slim to none. Barr has done absolutely nothing to restore any semblance of trust or integrity back into the DOJ and FBI. His passiveness is disgraceful.

As long as Bill Barr just ignores him, as if he has no affect on the job he has to do, then the perception of being swayed by the statements of the President has plausible deniability.
When you state it as you do then you are playing into the hands of the enemy.
When you just ignore what the President says and quietly do your job, then no one can prove that the President swayed your opinion.

Barr’s pathetic whining at Trump instead of being outraged at the corruption in his own department has already betrayed his weakness. Barr’s complete failure to so much as indict a single person is telegraphing an epic failure of leadership.
Leaders don’t whine; they win.
When you and others say Trump needs to shut up; it appears that you DO NOT WANT Trump to engage in draining the swamp.
Roger Stone vs. the DOJ is the perfect touchstone that defines the corruption inside the Beltway.
The President should and must continue to speak out against these swampers.
If the ODNI can be replaced by a non-IC individual; then the Director of the FBI and the AG can also be replaced by a non-law enforcement individual who has already been confirmed by the Senate for something else.
Has PDJT set a precedent here on a new strategy? Circumvent SSCI roadblocks to replace Wray. I’m not ready to give up on Barr yet, but this seems to be a way to get the right people in for the next 210 days.

Mitch McConnell has refused to put the Senate into recess for over two years. He’s doing this on purpose, so that the President cannot make recess appointments. Think about that.
