The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have long been on the left’s hate list. Any organization that has the temerity to train young men in the virtues of integrity, patriotism and self-reliance is putting itself on the fighting side of liberals!
At the 2000 Democratic National Convention, a little group of Boy Scouts took the stage as part of the opening ceremony -- and were promptly booed by the delegates.
For decades, the BSA has fended off lawsuits demanding that they embrace the holy trinity of G's: girls, gays and godless atheists. (If only it had occurred to the plaintiffs to start their own organizations! They could have given them names like “The Girl Scouts.”)
Why would any liberal want to join an organization that was, according to them, sexist, Bible-thumping and bigoted? They didn’t. The lawsuits were kill shots.

They were just a remnant of the WASP culture; when the culture was successfully marginalized, it was just a matter of time. Many other civic groups are disappearing; the culture that promoted them is as well.
I went to Catholic schools for 10.5 years...and that included boarding school.I was never molested even once..and I know of nobody who was.
What astounds me is that you never hear of molestation by Rabbis or Protestant clergy.There are surely *some* Jewish and Protestant kids (perhaps not a lot) who were molested. But Judaism and most Protestant denominations are politically correct so they're clearly "off limits".
It wasn’t liberalism or open acceptance of homosexual men in their volunteer ranks that doomed the BSA, but the organization’s protection of child molesters. If the Boy Scouts had a policy of “never diddle a kid, never tolerate a kid diddler.” They may still be dealing with falling membership and allowing gay scout leaders and girls in their ranks, but they wouldn’t be facing bankruptcy as well.
That tall guy is going one of those white supremacist “OK” hand signs and hiding it within his subtle Nazi salute! Guilty as charged!!
My kids were Boy Scouts, and it was ok, not great. No one got molested but that was because the moms were all over the place.

The lawsuits were kill shots.
The part missing, is that the lawsuits emanate from NATIONAL policies. Power to keep and expel leaders rests with local Troops, many of which remain loyal to the program that has a formed the leaders of tomorrow for a century+. Those local Troops are the lifeblood of Scouting and, for the most part, they are strong and healthy.
I wrote this elsewhere: if you are in Scouting, don't let the rot at National deter you. The Scouts need firm and steady adult leadership. Yes, Scouting is a boy-led program but we don't want to shrug our shoulders and surrender and let the Antifa crowd lead them.
When Obama was President, did we all run to Canada? As his 8 years of fundamentally transforming America progressed, did people of good fiber declare that America isn't worth preserving? Well, maybe some losers did. For the Patriots amongst us, we knew America isn't just borders, property, and structures, though those things matter. America is a mindset, a philosophy, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Put bluntly, we know that the head of the Executive Branch is NOT America. We carried on, and look at how much better off we are today.
Scouting is at a similar crossroad. The program of developing leaders through skillls and challenge has worked for over 100 years. Forget the quantum of Eagle Scouts - millions of boys have benefitted from that program. And now, an Obama-like rot has set in at National. However, based on the posts I've read, many Scouters seem to prefer the Canadian option. Or just outright surrender - as Ann said, to let them be " raised on “Grand Theft Auto” instead of the Boy Scout oath." These men talk of the good old days, of how proud they are of THEIR experience, but because of the gathering clouds they have chosen the Loyalist strain of cowardice. Maybe we can form a new club they think, with better rules. Well, if the foundation of that new club is "run away at the sight of a challenge," then when the left comes for that new club, it doesn't stand a chance.
I am not proud of what has become of Scouting's Executive leadership, the lawsuits, and the pain and suffering these poor decisions have caused. However, the Scouting program and local Troops are akin to the Tea Party movement, which in some ways gave us today's Deplorables. Don't let the naysayers and surrender monkeys deter you. Carry on, and Be Prepared.

Why did Rex “wrecker” Tillerson want to destroy the Boy Scouts? He was a complete failure as Sec of State - worst Cabinet pick by President Trump. What did Rex gain by this?
There are alternatives to the Scouts, including responsible, caring parents.
But it’s sad to see such a venerable organization dissolved by the acid of leftist perversion.

Of course they had policies prohibiting these things. It is disingenuous to suggest that the official bylaws allowed it. They do not. The scouts however, had some individuals (who wouldn't have been allowed leadership positions 30 years ago) who molested children. The Scouts failing was in their unwillingness to address it early and remove the entire cancer with prejudice. The official version is that it would be okay to have every letter of the LGBQrstuvwxyz in leadership positions because they would leave their proclivities at the office. A position to make an ostrich proud.
This is another example of the Left forcing themselves into an organization where they have no claim and destroying it from the inside. (reference; Catholic, Episcopal, Methodist Churches, Universities, Civic Clubs of all types, professional sports....)
There were lots of kids molested in synagogues and protestant churches.
But since every synagogue and protestant church is an independent financial entity, there was no huge common pot of money to attract lawyers.
The BSA did not have a history of protecting molesters. From the article: "Within a decade of its 1910 founding, the BSA began keeping internal files on “ineligible” scouting volunteers, known as “the perversion files.”
They did what they thought they should at the time, removing and making known the perverts so that they don't get re-hired somewhere else in the organization. I think that a lot of social science regarding molestation was developed in the 70's and 80's and was made into training tools I had to take as Cubmaster.
Nonetheless, the pervs will still find their way in. And now that open homos are welcome in the organization, the molestation rate will increase despite the youth protection training.
The BSA did this to themselves when they started accepting large corporate donations. BSA leaders got used to high end pay and perks. When corporations went aggressively liberal the BSA was stuck with a choice; lose the funds or play ball. They chose to play ball.
Homosexuals infiltrated and destroyed the Bot Scouts. They did the same to the Catholic Church. They will do the same to the American military.
SCOTUS gave the BSA legal permission to exclude gays leaders. So, they were under zero obligation to do so. Homosexuals didn't infiltrate. The door was opened for them from the inside. The question is; why?
