Attorney General William Barr is right that presidential tweets on Department of Justice (DOJ) cases make his job difficult in today's super-charged political environment. But President Trump is also right that the case of his associate, Roger Stone, is nothing but a political prosecution that, until the president tweeted about it, got little attention or examination.
For all the hullabaloo about Trump's tweets, which are nothing more than an expression of opinion, remember that in five of the last six special or independent counsel investigations, such interventions were not at all unusual. Both Democratic and Republican presidents pardoned numerous figures caught in the penumbra of those probes, especially those prosecuted for process crimes. President George H.W. Bush pardoned former Defense Secretary Caspar Weinberger even before his trial for allegedly lying to an independent counsel; President Bill Clinton pardoned most of the Whitewater figures who were his friends, and even President Barack Obama pardoned Gen. James Cartwright, his "favorite general," after Cartwright pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.

Neverthe less, the unbiased jury pressed on.
Every.single.department. of Fed.gov whines about independence and freedom from political bias.
I dont know why Americans accept this BS. It leads to the whole lie and farce we constantly hear - apolitical, dedicated, neutral bureaucrats who just want government to function efficiently.
The bureaucrats of Washington DC have become Americas Praetorian Guard. They need to be slapped down, hard.
But was it Schrodinger’s cat?
Seriously though, where’s the evidence Stone ever threatened anyone?
underneath this story are some other good related stories.
It was actually a dog...and the longtime associate has stated directly to the judge that he took it just as Stone being Stone and didn’t take it as a serious statement.
Penn wants Trump to pardon Stone (and Flynn, I suspect) so the investigations go away and the Democratic corruption (and more corrupt prosecutors) may be spared.
In every single one of these cases of people convicted of lying, they NEVER report the specific lie or lies, or how they determined that the accused knew he was lying. Seems too convenient to me.
Well, there’s one more Democrat who needs to survive the coming Civil War. If this keeps up, I may need more than one hand to count them!
I stand amazed.
