Sen. Bernie Sanders split with one of his top campaign surrogates on Medicare for All on Tuesday night. He said his signature plan to enroll everyone in the US under a government-run health insurance system was already a compromise.
At a CNN town hall, Sanders distanced himself from Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who said last week that passing a watered-down version of the legislation would be still represent a significant progressive achievement.
Asked about Ocasio-Cortez's comments, the Vermont senator initially praised the freshman congresswoman's achievements in her first year in the House. But he disputed her assessment of the plan.

Trouble in paradise.
Food fight! Love watching left eat itself
The Dems have always produced extremely entertaining alignments of kooks.
Bernie more radical than AOC!
Which begs the question, what is the non-compromise position? Slavery?
So much for “Choice”
These people are massive hypocrites.
Shut up, kulak. The State has freed you from slavery of possessions.
Does this really surprise anyone? AOC wants to change the RAT party from within and move it to the left. She actually doesn't have much ideological difference with the RAT she replaced (Joe Crowley already voted the RAT party line 95% of the time and was a dependable and predictable across-the-board leftist). She defeated him because of the changing demographics of the districts and because he was a low-key backbencher and attempted to sound "reasonable" and claim to "work with Republicans" despite his voting record, whereas she is a fire-breathing outspoken "progressive".
Bernie has NO interest in changing the RAT party from within or moving it to the left. As far as he is concerned, BOTH major political parties in the United States are evil capitalist puppets controlled by megacorporations, which would be abolished if Comrade Bernie had the power to do whatever he wanted and could institute The New Order like they had in Cuba under Castro's revolution. Bernie always ran as some fringe third party Socialist candidate for years (he was a proud Eugene Debs man) and is ONLY running on the RAT party line for President for one reason alone: ballot access (he knows it would impossible to get on the ballot for President in all 50 states as an Independent and get his Marxist message out nationally)

Simple. Bernie doesn't want the government to merely PAY for everyone's health care. In his ideal world, the government would BE the sole source of health care for everybody and the entire health care industry in the United States would be a government agency and all Doctors, nurses, physicians, etc. would be government employees who answer to the state alone and cannot operate outside of the government. All hospitals and any type of medical facility or medical care at all would operate like a VA hospital does now, as a wholly government-owned operation. There would be NO Medicare in comrade Bernie's world since Medicare still allows for the private sector to exist. So, in his warped mind, "Medicare for all" IS a compromise.
That being said, when I hear things like Mark Kirk is "socially moderate" when he votes with Planned Parenthood 100% of the time, I have to wonder what their idea of "socially liberal" is and how it is possible to be to the left of that. I suppose murdering toddlers might qualify.
He is a committed ideologue with decades in far left politics.
She is a profoundly ignorant bar girl or whatever, she can’t share his total devotion to marxism (yet!) because she simply doesn’t have the knowledge of it in her brain.
Her primary win was VERY low turnout. I maintain she won because of her last name, which no one talks about but is reason enough for Hispanics to vote. She also won the votes of “woke” yuppies who were the ONLY people who followed the primary at all. Blacks, and the diminishing number of blue collar Whites, stuck with Crowley.
I guarantee you most the people that voted for her (Hispanics) had not heard of her before walking into the polling place.
Look at Chicago where Irish candidates for Judge consistently do better. When you have no knowledge of the candidates it can be a factor in choosing.
I had read that Crowley actually carried most majority-Hispanic precincts over AOC, with AOC cleaning up in hipster white Anglo precincts, but if she did 20% better among Hispanics than she would have had her last names been O’Casey-Curtis then clearly her Spanish surnames wee a sine qua non for he primary victory.
She doesnt want Medicare for all. She thinks everyone should have Mailhandlers (Bernies) insurance. Medicare is for peasants.
I have up close and personal experience, or had, a three decades back. As a resident and student I did rotations in 6 different VAs some 6 weeks some 6 months. Unless something has radically changed every VA should be burned to the ground and the patients should be given insurance cards with Anthem or Cigna. They barely met the criteria to be called hospitals and the people were the absolute worst. If you wanted to know just how bad people could get in a condition of no accountability one need look no further than the VA.
You don't need to tell me, my dad died in a VA hospital in 2016 after being admitted for a minor problem three days earlier.
