Census Bureau spends millions on ad campaign to mitigate fears on excluded citizenship question

The Census Bureau is spending millions of dollars on an ad campaign seeking to assure members of the Latino community that their information will not be shared with local or federal authorities.

The ads, which are a part of the bureau’s $500 million campaign, are focused on mitigating fears regarding the now-excluded citizenship question from the 2020 census.

The entire advertising campaign with 1,000 ads will continue over the next five months, including $50 million targeting Latino populations, $40 million focused on African Americans and $20 million on Asian Americans, according to Culture ONE World, a Washington-based ad agency, Politico reported.

Several of the ads are directed at minority populations, particularly the Latino community, because of the bureau’s concerns that the 2020 census will undercount these populations, according to Politico.

A January report from the bureau found fears over a Trump administration-supported citizenship question could decrease the number of Latinos willing to participate. The census count affects redistricting and federal grant spending until 2030.

The ads, focused on reducing anxiety about the citizenship question and stressing the safety of the census, run in Spanish and in markets with high Latino populations. Culture ONE also told Politico that several will air in so-called sanctuary cities, where officials decline to share information with federal immigration authorities.

“I was like you ten years ago,” one of the men in the ad says in Spanish, according to Politico. “I filled [the 2010 census] out and look at me, I’m still here!”

1. Two adults reside here.

Thus end the census questions.

How is this possible? US taxpayers are spending 50 million to alleviate the fears of illegal immigrants, and make them feel nice and cozy.

Why? Why doesn’t Trump just fire everyone? Just gut every department, down to the mid level managerial level. This has to stop.

“their information will not be shared with local or federal authorities”

They forgot to add “except by Democrats in their treasonous, criminal plans to turn America into a third world sh*thole”.

I’d like the people complaining about this to tell me how the US is better off with an inaccurate census count.

We should only count legal residents of the United States in the United States Census. And the census should include name, sex (not “gender”), and age. That’s all.

1. Two adults reside here.

Thus end the census questions.

It should be "Two adult citizens live here (and x citizen children)" Citizenship should be the sole determining factor on whether anyone is counted in the census.

I’d like someone who’s ok with this to tell me how the US is better off with noncitizens affecting congressional apportionment, the electoral college, and even vote totals.

And we should be counting other persons as well. Cause I guarantee you that if you asked, the FedGov has no idea how many legal non-citizens are present here. Between student visas, work visas, Perma-green cards, tourists, etc., they don;t even know how many are in each of these programs. The census should be an enumeration of every person present in these US; but only citizens should be counted for apportionment.

Know two things

Census bureaucrats are overwhelmingly democrats
The census count apportions congressional seats.

California has 5-7 more Congress seats due to counting illegal aliens. They gain a few more in other states by these noncitizen counts. They are all democrat seats. They also get more electoral votes (5-10).

If they counted all the illegals in America (20-25 million, not 11 million) that would mean about 30 seats and38 electoral votes for democrats. That’s why Census bureaucrats want to have them come out of the shadows.
