The owner of Vince Young Steakhouse says homelessness in Austin is reaching a boiling point...
The first real major incident that I had was I had my head split open, Brown said in an interview. We had a guy, he was knocking over tables on our patio.
When he called 911, he said the man believed to be homeless hit him in the head. He needed 13 stitches.
Then about six months ago, he found a man relieving himself in the parking lot.
When Brown asked him to leave, Brown said the man responded, This is Austin. We can do whatever we want. You cant tell me what to do. Theres nothing you or the police can do.

Another way Austin is like San Francisco.
The downtown businesses need to go to the mayor and council and tell them, we pay the taxes and your social policies killing our businesses. When we close your revenue goes with those closings. People are not going to come downtown to fight with homeless thugs and avoid stepping in human feces.
The businesses also need to tell the homeless advocates they are hypocrites because they care, here fellow human, have a shopping cart to live in, have some clean needles to put an illegal drug in your body that is killing you and caused you to be homeless, we care!
One of the benefits of living in a cold climate...not too many homeless people are willing to live outside in the 0 degree winter temperatures where I live.
The obvious solution is to elect more Democrats, er, wait.
We moved to Austin 31 years ago. It was a great place to live and raise a family. The only thing that keeps me here now are that my grandchildren are close by.
Vince Young does not own the Vince Young Steakhouse.
Former University of Texas Longhorn quarterback Vince Young has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection (read Kirk Bohls story here on Statesman.com), but the filing will not affect the downtown Austin steakhouse that bears his name.
The steakhouse is owned by husband-and-wife partners Phillip and Laura Brown, with their close friend Young serving as the restaurants naming partner and face of the steakhouse, according to Laura Brown.
We really need to build a wall around Austin....
Well obviously the liberals haven’t taken it far enough yet. Allow them to poop on the sidewalk and let the violent criminals out without bail cause they are poor. And become a sanctuary city, if you aren’t already. Then you can be just like California and New York. This guy is obviously a racist, sexist, homophobe, zenophobe etc. etc. You folks reap what you sow. Enjoy.
“When he called 911 ... “
There you have it, the owner is a racist!
Sit down, shut up, and accept what your betters in government give you. It is Austin, and they are progressive, or didn’t you know that?
What?
A Democrat city with homeless folks?
Nah, no Democrat city has them because they are compassionate and care.
Lived in Austin from 74 to 99. Going back, it's amazing how much money people are spending to make the place ugly.
Austin is what happens when people on drugs design roads.
Hmm, does he let homeless people use the restroom in his restaurant?
If not, then I would think the occasional one relieving themselves in his parking lot would have to be chalked up as “cost of doing business”.
Keeping Austin Weird has its’ price.
There was a minor problem with street people along NP Avenue where the bars were concentrated. The problem tended to melt away every October and reappeared the following May. But if they tried San Fransicko type stuff, the cops were on them like white on rice.
the article states the solution is to “ he wants the city council to do more to fix the root problem of homelessness.
I dont think anybody starts out wanting to be homeless. Theres mental illness, substance abuse problems and those things have caused that, he said.

Actually the root cause of homelessness is the tolerance of homelessness. The shelters, the food kitches, the clothes closets, the gentle police hands.
If you want people to agree to treatment or agree to being homed, it has to be really aversive to not be in a home, it has to be really aversive to be a drug addict or to be untreated and mentally ill. Really adversive, so they want to accept treatment and get off the street, because there is no other choice.
Yep, the only homeless left in the winter up north are either the fake ones who are just beggars but have a cozy place to go home to at night, or the legitimately crazy ones.
Sounds like he doesnt want to keep Austin weird
And Seattle and Portland and San Fran and LA and .....
Austin ran Threadgills out of business (at their primary live music location) with high property taxes while give Planned Parenthood something like $1/year assessment.
Their priorities are whack and entirely unequal.
