Remember the ‘NASCAR Democrats?’ Neither do they
The Washington Times ^ | February 18, 2020 | by Charles Hurt

Remember after the 2000 election? Democrats were baffled that the voters hadn’t given Al Gore a third Clinton term in the midst of a good economy. Never mind that President Bill Clinton never won a majority of the vote and had been impeached for covering up his defiling of a young intern in the Oval Office.

To the credit of those old Democrats, at least they were slightly capable of self-awareness. This crowd today would march right down the throat of a flaming volcano if somebody told them that doing so would hurt President Trump.

Perhaps that should have been where Democrats began their search for answers for why they lost the 2000 election. Instead, they went searching for “NASCAR Democrats.”

These were the fabled voters out there who supposedly watched NASCAR racing while also supporting Democrats in elections. Or, at least, were open to voting for Democrats in elections.

The phantom “NASCAR Democrats,” meanwhile, spent Sunday watching the season kick off with the Daytona 500. And it was probably tough not to join the deafening cheers as Air Force One — ferrying Mr. Trump and first lady Melania to the race — tipped a wing to the rowdy racetrack as it touched down in Florida.

And watching the president’s limo — nicknamed “The Beast” — lap the track as the racing cars roared and rumbled behind it had to be a sight to behold.

Not in attendance in Daytona were Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders or Mike Bloomberg. If there were any of the elusive “NASCAR Democrats” there, they were not speaking up.

Mark Warner ran as a NASCAR Democrat, so did John Edwards, Jim Webb, Dick Gephardt, Mudcat Sanders.

They’ve been ostracized.

This is why Donald Trump should aim to win the popular vote in 2020, he is seen as illegitimate because of that, just like Clinton and Bush 43.

Thanks to Ross Perot, Clinton won in 1992 with a 43% plurality whereas Dukakis had lost in 1988 with 44% of the popular vote.

Won’t be any third party spoilers this year, thank goodness.

Bernie will go third party when the Democrats pull the rug out from under him at the convention.

But unlike in 1992 a third party candidate will benefit Trump.

Perot’s sabotage of GHWB (which was his intent) was convincing independents that he represented a third way.

Dems will then have to choose between a communist and a hard left winger with no crossovers from Trump’s base; many of them only voted against Hillary in 2016 but are now energized to vote for PDJT.

I’ll be toasting a Trump blowout election including a House flip and a Senate surge in November. Of course the GOP knows how to screw up a 1 man parade.

What is or what WAS a NASCAR Democrat?

Plain and simple, these were Midwestern Americans, many worked in factories and belonged to the local union. All of their union representation were people that they attended local high school with and grew up with, in other words, they trusted each other to look out for them and their families, like a family would.

Many worked in agriculture, butcher shops, auto parts, auto sales, construction, welders, miners, gas, hunting/fishing supplies, or other time honored blue collar labor jobs.

They lived in the same town with their entire family third, fourth, fifth generation.

They believe in God and went to church on Sunday together and they spent Saturday’s and Sunday’s watching college football, the NFL, and NASCAR. Many actually raced stock cars at the local dirt track on Friday and Saturday night. These people actually look forward to going to the county fair…It isn’t a photo op to be seen eating a deep fried oreo with the cretins….

They spend time teaching the young men (and some young women) how to hunt, fish, farm, work on cars, cuss, fight, drink beer, and love their family.

There were NO BETA males.

If you didn’t know which bathroom to use, which was never, you would have been ridiculed mercilessly for being a retard (sorry, no offense).

Many NASCAR Democrats served in the military as did many other family members and many of their children will and did serve.

These people stand for the flag, they love their country, and they love their families.

The reason why there are so few NASCAR Democrats today is three simple reasons: Democrats mocked their religion, flag, and service, Democrats started going after their guns, and Democrats started injecting all of the Hollyweird in to American culture and then mocked the Rednecks for not embracing the Hollyweird culture.

If the democrats ever want to win back the NASCAR Democrat they need to embrace the FACT that there are only TWO Genders, God is real, the Second Amendment is settled law, and Veterans (Patriotism) have done more to keep America free than any clown democrat politician, entertainer, or athlete.

Our hero’s look, act, and speak like men!

There, I decoded it for you…Carry on!

And yet, it’s true. He campaigned for him both times.

But just when you thought you had him figured out, just when you thought you really knew Junior Johnson, he’d turn you inside out. Two years later, he traveled North Carolina canvassing for … Barack Obama. Four years later, he did it again. He loved Obama, loved how he stood up to pressure, admired his commitment to helping people.

And his own words (prepare the barf bag):

These days, I run a small country ham and pork skins business. Barack Obama will fight for a fair economy where small businesses like mine have the freedom to grow, and he’ll defend the Second Amendment to protect the hunter’s way of life.

But the most important reasons I’m speaking out for Barack Obama are named Robert and Meredith, my two children. My wife Lisa and I talked it over, and honestly, we know in our gut that their future is more secure if Barack Obama is president.

Have you gotten one of these pre-recorded calls that are flooding our state smearing Barack Obama’s character and questioning his patriotism? That’s crossing the line, and North Carolinians deserve better. Help fight back by canvassing this week to tell your neighbors the truth about Barack.

Strange, isn’t it, how Junior Johnson came from a background where the most basic belief is extreme distrust of government, especially `revenooers’, then later in life goes, not blue-dog Democrat, but full Obama worshipper?

True, Obama didn’t succeed in confiscating any guns and was best known for “Now, nobody’s coming to take away your guns!”, but defender of the 2nd Amendment? That’s a little much.

I wonder if Junior lost any friends for supporting Obama.

Wow. I never knew that about Junior Johnson. He must have got into some really bad moonshine.

I was in his shop once when Elliott was driving for him. The crew had a big summer sausage up on a shelf that Bill sent them. There was a note beside it. “Bill got the money, we got the sausage”.
