Schwarzenegger thanks Trump for addressing California homelessness: 'It has become a crisis'
Fox News ^ | 2/18/2020 | Joshua Nelson

After former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger applauded President Trump for addressing California’s housing and homeless crisis, the former movie star appeared on Fox News on Sunday to explain how the state became plagued by sky-high prices for housing.

“When it comes down to it, California was going through a period where we had kind of had a no-growth movement,” Schwarzenegger told “The Next Revolution” with Steve Hilton.

“Therefore there was no supply anymore so the demand became bigger and bigger and the prices of homes now went up,” Schwarzenegger said, referencing California's “no-growth movement” causing a “disruption” in the supply and demand of housing.

Schwarzenegger said that apartments in Santa Monica or Brentwood, Calif. range from $2,000-3,000 for a one-bedroom apartment and $5,000 for a two-bedroom one.

“No one could afford it except people that made a lot of money so it priced people out of their homes,” Schwarzenegger said.

'The Story' investigates California's homeless crisisVideo Schwarzenegger also said the environmental movement prevented new construction and it has “backfired,” driving California’s “no-growth movement.”

Schwarzenegger thanked Trump last week for his efforts to combat the homelessness crisis in California.

We’ll only solve this if everyone works together.

Not a federal issue. And from a state level unless you criminalize homelessness then what exactly is the solution?

Arnold has personally hired 300 of them as maids.

Dear Arnold: take a look around you. How many illegals are living on the streets? If those illegals went home, how many apartments and low income housing would be available for those who really want housing? What would be left on the streets would be only druggies and those with mental problems. Then you could get those remaining people treatment.

You approach a problem by resolving the easy part first.

Those were fun times here on Free Republic. We all had some lively debates.

Is that what you call them? I call them crucifixions if you were not a Trumpette and stuck with your beliefs.

Oh well, that is behind us now until someone reads this and gets me banned again.

Bwhahahahahah

It’s amazing that these people who are screaming about a homeless crisis are usually the same people who want to legalize hard drugs which will create more drug addicted, mentally ill people who will be so deranged that they would prefer to live on the street.

Wonder what Schwarzenegger is up to? Don’t trust him as far as I can throw him which is about zero inches.

Yes, and this is what the crisis is: Western Civilization is in an advanced state of decay.

Can decadence be reversed once it has afflicted a civilization? President Trump and his supporters think it can, that America can be pulled back from the brink of destruction and sent soaring once again to unprecedented heights of ascendancy.

This is the meaning of "Make America Great!" and "The Best Is Yet To Come" and "The party's over; I'm going to clean up Washington!"

President Trump believes in America and the possibility of overcoming the Decadence of Western Civilization enough to risk everything--a considerable amount, in his case!--to save the USA from destruction.

All benevolent people will give him their support.

MAGA!
THANK YOU, PRESIDENT TRUMP!
WE SHALL OVERCOME!
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Get energetic about deporting illegals, and California’s housing problem gets fixed real quick.

“ Except that he is BUYING the ERRONEOUS story that the problem is high home prices. The problem is drugs and metal illness.”

The primary problem is high home prices. I’m not discounting drug addiction or mental disease, that’s another leg on the stool. People never talk about how Chinese money, fleeing Communist China, has hyper-inflated West Coast real estate. There are a lot of homes sitting empty owned by Chinese nationals.

He didn’t start it. He temporarily brought a modicum of sanity to California’s budgeting. It didn’t last. It couldn’t. Now it’s worse than ever, and bound to get much worse.

Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. If it were a Stalinist $hithole, he would have all the homeless rounded up, shoot those who can’t work and transport those who could to Alaska for slave labor. It’s an anarchist $hithole, and sooner or later, anarchy will lead to either right-wing dictatorship, or Stalinist dictatorship, but there is no way it can remain as it is.

Having insufficient funds to buy a house, the frustrated would-be homesteader would then hang out on the streets, defecating on the sidewalk and throwing discarded heroine needles every which way as tent cities became ubiquitous. Anything rather than rent./s

Do you even SEE these people in the tents? You can see with your own eyes that they are obviously mentally ill or on drugs.

Figure they’re kept around to utilize them for votes and federal $$ largesse.

Give Stalin his due. He didn’t bother with no steenking votes. He just counted them his own special way. As for federal largesse, yes, there was a work program right near the North Pole called Kolyma, and they weren’t making toys for Santa.

Yes I have and with those people drugs are a huge problem. I am talking about the working homeless living out of their cars or living with friends and relatives or in homeless shelters.

Trust me, the majority of homeless people do not sleep on the street.

You hit the nail on the head. The more you spend, the worse it gets, because corrupt SOBs want the gravy train to keep going. Like putting out a fire with gasoline.
