These thoughts reflect the writer's concern about the worsening political and social conditions in Germany, a nation whose importance — for America, Europe, and the world — should require no laboring to a readership of politically sophisticated Americans.
What's happening today in Germany is deeply disturbing.
And it's not for the reason casual American observers, including many conservatives, might think based on information derived from the mainstream English-language media. Contrary to these purveyors of globalist, multi-cultural propaganda, the reason for growing unease about Germany is not the presence in the German parliament (Bundestag), and persistent electoral strength, of "Die Alternative für Deutschland" ("The alternative for Germany," or AFD) — invariably, counterfactually, and ludicrously styled by the Western corporate media as the far-right AFD — as they style all western European political parties committed to preserving national cultures.
Deep concern about Germany arises because of two different but related phenomena.
First, Angela Merkel's destruction of the center-right Christian Democrats/Christian Social Union (the Christlich Demokratische Union Deutschlands, or CDU, and the Christlich Soziale Union in Bayern, or CSU, respectively), and her radical transformation of those allied parties, which together formed most of the post war governments that led Germany out of the physical and moral ruins of World War II. Through Merkel's policies, the CDU/CSU have been shorn of their conservative principles and become nearly indistinguishable from Germany's extremist Die Grünen ("the Greens") and its dying Sozial Demokratische Partei Deutschlands (the old socialists, or "SPD").

Merkel is easily the 2nd worst German Chancellor in history. I wish the spirit of rebellion would arise in the Germans as never before.

This was VERY predicable. After the collapse of the Iron Curtain and German reunification, the west should have implemented a policy that NO East German citizen could ever run for any German government position for at least one hundred years.
The west (i.e. the USA) should never have permitted the communist East to take over all of Germany.
The same can be said about the democrat party here.
I will argue that the German warrior gene was destroyed between 1914 and 1945.
Germany and for that matter, Europe lacks the genes to be a real power any more.
The problem is not expansion, the Darwinian problem is maintaining what is there, of being adequately fit to survive

If the German chancellor who you place above Merkel in "worstness" is who I think it is, you must understand that he was put in place by the German's "spirit of rebellion" which you would invoke, and that "spirit of rebellion" requires continuous suppression, even today, by a large bureaucracy put in place by the Federal Constitution and vigorously enforced to the point that people are in prison for whistling banned tunes.
As Churchill said, the Germans are "at your feet or at your throat". We've been running the "at your feet" part of the equation for 75 years now, be careful what you wish for.

What you speak of is more akin to Merkle’s actions. Her Great Uncle Addie would be proud of her integration into Germany of a people (i.e. the Muzzies) every bit as anti-Semitic as an ardent Nazi. In fact, Adolph had a high opinion of Islam and its call for endless war. My assumption is that a party like the AFD would be allowed to govern after winning fair elections. Merkle does not allow this.
I totally agree. The strongest genes migrated to the free world and other colonies. The good that remained was killed off in WWI and WWII.
What is left is prime for harvesting by the invading caliphate.
As someone who grew up with German and who has German ancestors, who did exchange programs in college and law school in Germany as well as getting a diploma in business German....as someone who has lived in 4 European countries and who has dealt with Germans from ordinary average people to German lawyers and businesses executives I can unequivocally tell you all:
Germany is a dying country. They are terminal. There is no hope for them and they are WAY too far gone. This was all inevitable once the rotten 68er generation came to hold the levers of power. EVERY complaint you would make about America...

Are far far WORSE in Germany. Add to it no first or second Amendment and no working pair of testicles that would support a credible military and a corrosive sense of self loathing that makes taking any kind of pride in their own heritage or national sovereignty simply anathema.
Germany is the primary example of everything I don’t ever want America to become. As usual, individually Germans tend to be nice, intelligent and quite capable. Collectively Germans are a toxic waste dump.
Anybody who thinks Germany ever again will be any kind of military threat to anybody knows nothing about the modern country. The greatest danger Germany poses to others is that anybody else might be influenced by them and follow their self destructive path. Germany will implode due to demographic collapse and eventually economic collapse. It will not explode and overflow it’s borders to threaten anybody else a la the 3rd Reich.
Time will tell.
