Tucker Carlson: Roger Stone case is about the left wanting to send political enemies to jail
Fox News ^ | 15 Feb 2020 | Tucker Carlson

We’ve chronicled pretty extensively on this show how our leaders in Washington suddenly seem deeply sympathetic to people ensnared in our criminal justice system.

An awful lot of criminals are getting out of prison early these days or not going at all. This is compassionate, they tell us, and it may be. Yet somehow, those same compassionate impulses don't seem to extend to Roger Stone, one of President Trump's oldest advisers.

Stone was convicted of lying during Special Counsel Robert Mueller's Russia investigation. In the end, Mueller couldn't find collusion between the Trump 2016 election campaign and Russia, but Justice Department prosecutors recommended to the sentencing judge that Stone should get seven to nine years in prison. Good, says official Washington. He is annoying and worse, he is close to Trump. Let him die there.

President Richard Nixon’s White House counsel, John Dean, said on CNN: “Roger Stone is somebody I hold in minimum high esteem. So I was not unhappy to see him get seven to nine.”

Dean led the Watergate cover-up for months. He made hush payments to the burglars. He destroyed evidence to keep investigators from finding it.

So how much prison time did he serve for all that? Well, he served four months. He is not Roger Stone. He didn't get nine years.

Of course. Political prisoners.

@SharonLombardo0 · 19h Replying to @backt0nature That’s so funny. It reminds me of the Republicans who are enjoying President Trump’s Presidency and our great economy and the Democrats who can’t even stand to put in a nice word. 🇺🇸🌹🇺🇸

A lot of the prosecution of people close to Trump is to make good candidates for his administration too fearful of having their lives ruined to join him. The left has no conscience at all.

I don't think so. I think Trump is solidifying his base support, uniting many Americans in a solid, anti-decadence, pro-American group. When Black America en masse becomes part of this group, America will have turned the corner into ascendancy.

Yes Tucker, they try to jail people for disagreeing with them, we fail to prosecute people who break supposedly important laws.

This country has been very reliable about switching parties holding the presidency every 8 years since getting over it’s Roosevelt Royalty fixation. The only two exceptions are Carter, who was so miserable nobody wanted to see him anymore, and Bush I, who was a bonus to Republicans for coming up with someone as great as Reagan, with assistance from a sissy Dem candidate.

Will Trump’s presidency have coattails? I don’t think so. Presidents wear thin after 8 years, and Trump is tiring.

America staggers right and left yet charts a centrist course over the years. It’s like a circadian rhythm of politics.
