Battle for House Intensifies After Impeachment (RATS 'in serious trouble')
Wall Street Journal via MSN ^ | 2/14/20 | Natalie Andrews

WASHINGTON - House lawmakers are readying to campaign in the post-impeachment landscape, with Democrats eager to focus on policy issues and Republicans planning to attack swing-district Democrats for voting to remove a president whom many of their constituents support.

Democrats plan to defend the majority, and specifically their 30 seats in districts that Mr. Trump won in 2016, by discussing the issue that gave them the gavel in 2018: lowering health-care costs. Lawmakers expect to stay far away from talking about the two articles of impeachment the House passed against the president in December.

Republicans, meanwhile, will largely embrace running on the ballot alongside Mr. Trump. Their message will be national: attacking Democrats for impeachment and tying themselves to successes in the economy and the president.

“The Democrats who voted for impeachment from districts that Trump won with a majority are in serious trouble,” said David Wasserman, the House race analyst from the nonpartisan Cook Political Report. Twelve House Democrats won in districts where the president won more than 50% of the vote, while 18 Democrats took districts that Mr. Trump won with a plurality.

Republicans credit the impeachment investigation for boosting fundraising. In the first six weeks of this year, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy has raised over $1.5 million online, according to an aide. By comparison, he raised $1.3 million in the final quarter of 2019.

House lawmakers are readying to campaign in the post-impeachment landscape, with Democrats eager to focus on policy issues...

...which they haven't done over the preceding three plus years due to an obsession with striking down the '16 election, at which they also failed. That's going to be an interesting record to run on.

Bloomberg worries me on this front. He is capable of funding every democrat running without even hurting his fortune. Trump may be a billionaire but he is not as fluid as Bloomberg by a long shot.

Yes, I pretty much agree.

She should do herself a favor and resign.

This isn’t serving her well.

Pelosi and the democrat crazy train will keep impeaching the President until 2024 because they know the republicans are so lacking in balls that they (the republicans in Congress) will not and never would return fire by endlessly impeaching the next Rat president.

Two can play this game but Pelosi knows that’d never happen. This tells you all you need to know about the Uniparty in Swampland.

Democrat playbook if the President wins re election- - every move Trump makes, the Rats impeach. The House cannot fall again like 2018. The republicans MUSTretake the House and keep the Senate ( even though McConnell barely protects the presidency now)

Fortuitous that the senate never got their secret balloting wish in the trial. I’m not so sure Pence wouldn’t be president today

If they regain the House (and assuming testicular and spinal transplants are perfected), the Republicans need go full attack mode on House Demonicrats from Day 1 on. No slack! A House censure should be passed and read to each Demonicrat member.

“And, pray tell, what have the Democrats done to reduce health care costs?”

That depends on whether we are using the “human” or the Orwellian “Democrat” language. In Democrat, “reduce health care costs”, means: “increase health care costs exponentially, but vote for me and you might get a bigger subsidy at someone else’s expense”.

No one likes to vote for losers! And of course they could run on their record of doing nothing! So basically the Democrats are running on the ‘still pissed that Trump’s President’ platform.

So, I guess the Dem’s want to double down on impeachment. I guess they haven’t learned their lesson.

Personally, I expect the Democratic party to self destruct this election cycle and stay in shambles for a decade or so.

I don't think you need to worry about that. Little Mike is only concerned about his big ego. He has tunnel vision and is focused on himself.

The only way to stop the impeachment BS is for the Pubs to win the House and, of course, retain control of the Senate.

When you resume power what are you going to DO? And why should we believe you?

You have to elect them to find out.

If the GOP doesn’t use vote harvesting in California, those seats will remain lost.

“Voter fraud will be over the top this election. “

It will be through the roof! They need illegals to vote.

Don’t become over confidant. Bloomberg is in the equation now and you have to add ALL the totals on the Dem side and put that against Trump.

Voter fraud will be over the top this election. I’m sure the GOP e will roll over like dead dogs

As my aging tagline agrees with you the problem is this election there's no coming back "next time". Bernie or Hillary won't let people on the ballot they don't consider comrades.

An all black am radio station I listen to once in a while has political talk and call-ins.

Lately they are really disgruntled over Pete, Biden (not as loyal as they used to be),Warren and Mike B (carefully worded anti-semitic calls about his having all the money, buying everything, the blacks working for his type "and he gives nothing back to the community").

BUT the female talk co-host says to each caller "So then in November you will vote for Donald Trump?" Callers all clear their throats and say "Well, no, never, never." They sound like someone asked them if they are giving their estate to the KKK in their will.

So our dream: they stay home and do not vote. Otherwise maybe a 1.1% improvement over Bush black vote.
