I am a DAV member and am covered totally by the VA which, while not perfect by any means, is in my estimation superior to any private coverage I know of today. There are some problems here with the VA covering patients like me who are treated at private hospitals, the problems seem to stem mainly from screwups by the hospital billing office. My wife acts on my behalf and she has had to go round after round with this and it usually ends with the VA having to contact the hospital and tell them that they must submit a bill in order to be paid rather than sending the bill to the patient and falsely claiming that the VA refused to pay. I am not joking.
