exactly- lust sums it up- when that is the basis of one’s desires, it’s a high risk factor for divorce as the one that lusts is always seeking greater and greater thrills- the ‘thrill’ of illicit affairs is a big draw for people that can’t control their lusts- and it’s what drives once happily married couples to seek out new thrills- I’ve known several couples where the wife just suddenly announced she was leaving for another woman- uncontrolled lust drove them to seek ‘the next level’ in deviant sex-

This is the biological parallel to the problem in game theory to the problem of the evolution of cooperation, illustrate by the prisoner’s dilemma. To ensure the win-win of cooperation and protect against the huge lose - huge win of the other side defecting - you have to be ready to defect at the first indication. Interventions are central planners telling others what to do. It fails spectacularly every time it's tried, but the eggheads never learn.

Instead of interventions, how about live and let live, as well as let die? Our limited resources would be better spent designing new and more intelligent life in our image rather than intervening in God's.

When I was stationed in Altus, OK (where the bartender chick at the NCO Club would tell a joke, “What is a Texan? A Mexican on his way to Oklahoma.” - it was before all the PC stuff really kicked in...) I had another NCO friend who had a Latino girlfriend - didn’t see him for a few weeks and when he showed up at a ,local watering hole downtown, his arm was in a sling and never expected to work again - she got pissed about something and stabbed him in front of the shoulder and it severed some nerves...
