Federal prosecutors have declined to charge former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, closing an investigation into whether he lied to federal officials about his involvement in a news media disclosure, McCabe’s legal team said Friday.
The decision resolves a criminal investigation that spanned more than a year and began with a referral from the Justice Department’s inspector general, which said McCabe repeatedly lied about having authorized a subordinate to share information with a newspaper reporter for a 2016 article about an FBI investigation into the Clinton Foundation.
McCabe’s lawyers said in a statement they were told in a phone call and letter that the case is closed and “no charges will be brought against him based on the facts.”
McCabe, a frequent target of attacks from President Donald Trump, has denied that he intentionally misled anyone. He has said his 2018 firing — for what the Justice Department called “lack of candor” — was politically motivated. He sued the Justice Department in August, saying officials had used the inspector general’s conclusions as a pretext to rid the FBI of leaders Trump perceived as biased against him.
In a letter on Friday, prosecutors told McCabe’s lawyers that they decided “not to pursue criminal charges against your client” after careful consideration.
“Based on the totality of the circumstances and all of the information known to the government at this time, we consider the matter closed,” said the letter, signed by the chief of the U.S. attorney’s office’s public corruption unit.
The decision was revealed at the week of startling tensions between Trump and the Justice Department over the treatment of one of the Republican president’s longtime allies and confidants, Roger Stone.

I guess as soon as Stone is given a legit sentence Trump can pardon him. And he can point directly to this McCabe decision. I haven’t pick through all the weeds of the DOJ decision on McCabe but I certainly haven’t heard that he wasn’t guilty of the leak just not charged.
When the time comes and the call goes out I am ready.
The Swamp is still fetid and deep.
It’ll take a lot more than 8 years to drain it.
I wonder if this means he gets his job back?
Actually there’s enough to be pissed off at currently, therefore it won’t hurt me a bit to get pissed off at this later down the road if I learn this is the truth, and there isn’t more to the story, which I believe there is.
Not happy with this news at all. I’d like to think he turned snitch, and gave up all the others in exchange for no prosecution, but at this point, who the F knows. He’s suing the DOJ and FBI for his pension, so he’ll probably get that back too. There is no justice in this country any more.

The President thought he was appointing a competent loyalist when he appointed Sessions. Sessions stabbed the President and all of us in the back.

What the heck is Trump afraid of? He needs to fire AG Bill Barr as well as FBI Director Chris Wray. It will be his own undoing if he doesn’t. Unequal and selective justice will lead to the absolute collapse of this country. I like Trump but his head fake crap on draining the swamp by cleaning up the deep state is obviously Horse Pucky!! Losing my faith every time one of the deep state slimers gets off for the crimes they have so clearly committed.
Maybe Stone, Flynn and anyone else hurt by the grinned up investigations could personally sue McCabe, Comey, Strook, etc for millions since they can’t seem to get justice from Congress or the so-called “justice” department.
McCabe’s lawyer has said his story changed because in the first interview he wasn’t prepared for the question, and that he was soon distracted by President Trump’s firing of FBI chief James Comey, whom McCabe replaced as acting director.
Oh I see isn’t that what happened with Flynn, he wasn’t prepared for the question(s) and didn’t think he needed a lawyer.

One blogger has said that they dropped this charge so they can prosecute the more serious serious charges. I hope he’s right.
