In an exclusive interview, Attorney General Bill Barr told ABC News on Thursday that President Donald Trump "has never asked me to do anything in a criminal case but should stop tweeting about the Justice Department because his tweets make it impossible for me to do my job.
Barrs comments are a rare break with a president who the attorney general has aligned himself with and fiercely defended. But it also puts Barr in line with many of Trumps supporters on Capitol Hill who say they support the president but wish hed cut back on his tweets.
I think its time to stop the tweeting about Department of Justice criminal cases, Barr told ABC News Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas.
When asked if he was prepared for the consequences of criticizing the president his boss Barr said of course because his job is to run the Justice Department and make decisions on what I think is the right thing to do.
Im not going to be bullied or influenced by anybody ... whether its Congress, a newspaper editorial board, or the president, Barr said.

Cut the bull$hit and actually accomplish something.
Because no TeeVee "news" producer EVER edited an interview tape.
Were you born yesterday, or did you fall off the turnip truck this afternoon?
Leftist media cracks me up.
Barr DOESN’T BLAST ANYTHING.
They are completely nutty weirdos.
While I was address canvassing for the Census last fall, I actually talked to a farmer dude in his early sixties about this information conduit.
He most likely was current technology challenged - but he had a smart phone.
He told me that he had his phone programmed to receive Trump's tweets.
We both laughed and high-fived at the genius of our sh*tposting King of the Twitter trolls.
You can criticize a word in the headline, but the facts remain:
- Barr hasn't arrested or prosecuted ANY of the Deep State coup plotters
- Barr whined and cried on the shoulder of a liberal ABC reporter (on camera) and criticized the President for expressing his opinions
- The President, his family, his administration, his friends, his business associates, his campaign staff, and his supporters have been put through Hell by the Dept of Injustice cabal: the Weissmanns, the Muellers, the Zelinskys, and so many more.
- Barr declared that Epstein committed suicide, which is laughable, and then claimed he "shook up" the Federal Dept of Corrections by firing two $15 an hour security guards and one manager
Barr isn't our savior, and he isn't our friend.
If there ever are any prosecutions, it looks like he will be pulled screaming and crying into them. And - they won't be of Obama, Soros, Hillary, Pelosi, and corrupt Senators. They will be of the underlings and water carriers of the coup.
Oh please. The reporter asks questions and Barr answers them. It's there for you to watch.
Moreover, using your twisted "logic", we can never watch the President's comments on Fox News or any media, because they might have been "edited."
Accept it: Barr is not fully behind taking down the Deep State, and he never was.
Correct. They desperately want to stop the President from getting his message out via Twitter - and have been trying to do that for years.
Barr just helped that effort.
I don't see anyone "freaking out."
I see people commenting. The White House responded/rebuked/challenged Barr's ridiculous attack on the President's ability and right to criticize the "Justice" Department, or anything else he feels like commenting on.
Is the White House and the President "freaking out" as well?
The Democrats in the House, including that evil clown Nadler, sent a threatening letter to Barr this week basically telling him to lay off prosecuting Democrats.
Based on Barr's inaction so far, they don't have much to worry about.
What’s worse, Trump’s Tweets or having a tell-all interview with the MSM?
It's bad optics for an Attorney General to not do his job and arrest/prosecute DOJ criminals, but instead defend a corrupt and out of control government agency that is staffed by 96% Democrats.
Long time DOJ "pit bull" Weissmann alone should be in jail for 30 years for the lives he has ruined.
When Barr first came on board at the Dept of Injustice, I read that he was spending a lot time having "brown bag" and "meet and greet" luncheons and breakfasts with DOJ employees.
Did they have field trips to the zoo as well?
Barr needed to read these vermin the riot act.
Instead, he coddled them.
And that's where we are today.
Agree.
We have a massive scandal at DOJ. It is full of Gestapoesque thugs.
But that's not the problem. Nosiree. The problem is when the President calls them out.
The Obama worshipping ABC reporter, Pierre Thomas, gave Bill a big shoulder to cry on.
Or he can resign.
The President hasn't micro-managed Bagpipes one bit. He has actually taken his hands off, when he has every right to be more involved in what DOJ is doing. Trump has said so on numerous occasions.
Apparently, the President has decided that Barr has sat on his fat keister long enough.
And your party affiliation, how much wealth you have, and what judge and prosecutors you are friends with.
Well now the tweet has led to yet another call for charges and impeachment, IG investigation and Barr has to go and get an interrogation in front of Congress. Dems most liklely getting the 4 prosecutors to contrive evidence to take out Barr. Or perhaps another WB.
It didn’t have to happen. President shouldn’t be putting his trusted AG in that position at all.
Stone can get pardoned- Stone isn’t worth losing BARR who could walk away and just retire vs. being smeared non stop on the news for the next month.
Which also doesnt help.
If Barr finds the need to say publicly that the President's Tweets a hinderance to doing his job then he needs to find another job.
I heard Sean Hannity on his radio show today misquote Barr by saying that Barr said “makes my job ALMOST impossible.” No, Sean, Barr said ... makes my job IMPOSSIBLE. Surely Sean knows that these make for very different headlines. So does Barr. What is happening in our country is very frightening.
