I thought Matthew Whitaker did an outstanding job as acting A/G between Sessions and Barr.
So much so, that HE should have been selected.

mcconnell would never have allowed it. Trump has been crippled by mcconnell's control over his cabinet. When a dem is president, he/she is entitled to a cabinet of choice. When an outsider is POTUS, the gopE thinks they must choose the cabinet for em. mcconnell hates Trump and wants to destroy him the same way mcconnel destroyed the Tea Party. All the while apperaring to keep his hands clean.

I didn’t. He was recently defending the Flynn prosecution of Fox News. He’s as swampy as the rest of them. Good riddence.

Matthew Whitaker was appointed to the AG post on a temporary basis under the provisions of the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998. This is how he was able to serve in the AG role without Senate confirmation. I believe there is a stipulation of the Vacancies Reform Act that says a person serving temporarily in a role like this without Senate confirmation cannot be nominated to fill that same role permanently.
