There were more than 72,000 drug overdose deaths in 2017 and more than 68,000 in 2018. Most of the alcoholics are drug addicts.

The reintroduction of heroin in the form of say paregoric is not a bad thing.

We’ve had a drug war for over 100 years and it’s done nothing but empower the government to curtail civil liberties. I’m so bloody sick and tired of the hypocrisy. And no, most alcoholic are NOT drug addicts, I know. I’m celebrating 30 years off booze this month.

In my view it’s drug prohibition is rank hypocrisy and the drug war is a total and complete failure.

The problem has been ‘’added’’to regardless. Get control of the problem by getting control of the money.

You're making my point. By drugs being illegal, it increases the profit motive. Drug money fuels corruption of the police, funds terrorism, enriches unscrupulous financiers and bankers and without age appropriate laws are easily available to kids. Why shouldn't an ault be able to use cocaine or smoke pit? because of the dangers to life and limb? Alcohol fuels far more damage. Gambling is an addiction and yet virtually every state in the nation allows it. Tobacco products are still readily available. Morality is not the issue. Adult choice and personal freedom of choice are. In reality, the end result of protecting people from their own folly is to live in a world full of fools.

We have constitutional carry and our choices of rifles in anti-drug states, and Republicans let the assault weapons ban expire in 2004.

Do you know what you just did there? Bootydredge is going to lose more clearly than Hillary lost. And by the way, pot makes men grow tits.

It’s easier to argue with a meth head than a jack boot licking drug warrior. Unfortunately the Jack boot lickers *do* seem to live longer, although the country, and the world, would be better off without either.
Fascists gotta fash, just because they *call* themselves “conservative” and clutch a bible or a gun doesn’t mean they aren’t they type of goon who wants to tell people what to do with their lives even when it’s none of their business.

I can appreciate your point of view but first of all, of course I can't know for certain, but unless you've ever recovered from some substance abuse you'll never appreciate the mind numbing, infuriating hypocrisy of aholes like ‘’familyop’’. They wrap themselves in it and preach with a self-righteous tone as if God speaks through them like an Old Testament prophet. In reality self-righteousness is just a phony form of respectability.
Trying to outlaw the proclivity of human beings , as Oscar Wilde put it ‘’ to cure the soul by means of the senses’’ is a useless exercise in control but the modern state(i.e government) has learned it is an excellent way to control people and make a ton of money. Morality is a code of behavior that must be taught by society and one’s faith tradition, parents and peers. It can't be enforced at the point of a gun or compelled by an essentially morally compromised legal system. Drugs are a commodity. That means money. When you have a problem with money , you get control of the money and you get control of the problem.

It can't be enforced at the point of a gun or compelled by an essentially morally compromised legal system.Yes, but one may have to endure afflictions if one preaches the word, being ready in season and out of season, and convinces, rebukes, and exhorts, with all longsuffering and teaching.
Much easier top bray about "druggies" (and tits) and vote for people who promise to do one's God-ordained job for one.
