President Trump said Tuesday he didnt speak to the Justice Department about the sentencing of longtime confidante Roger Stone after department officials took the unusual step of reconsidering his recommended punishment and all four federal prosecutors withdrew from the case.
The president said the federal prosecutors initial recommendation of a prison term of seven to nine years for Stone was ridiculous and an insult to our country.
I thought the whole prosecution was ridiculous, Mr. Trump told reporters. It shouldnt happen.
The Justice Department said Tuesday it will take the extraordinary step of lowering the amount of prison time it will seek for Stone, an announcement that came just hours after Mr. Trump complained on Twitter that the recommended sentence was very horrible and unfair.
Senate Minority Leader Charles E. Schumer asked the Justice Departments inspector general to investigate the matter, saying the reversal has all the indications of improper political interference in a criminal prosecution. The New York Democrat asked the watchdog to find out which White House officials were involved.
The Justice Department said the decision to shorten the sentencing recommendation was made Monday night before Mr. Trumps tweet and that prosecutors had not spoken to the White House about it. The president said the same thing.
I stay out of things to a degree that people wouldnt believe, Mr. Trump told reporters. No, I have not been involved with it at all. I didnt speak to the judge. Id be able to do it, if I wanted. I had the absolute right to do it.
Soon after the Justice Department said it planned to reverse its sentencing position, one of the prosecutors in the case, Aaron Zelinsky, filed a notice with the court that he had resigned from his position as a special prosecutor with...

Right. They work for him. I don’t see any Articles in the Constitution creating the DOJ or FBI.
Another Trump mouse trap?
Just trolled Chuckie. Again. We are watching a master.
imagine what life must be like with a degree in journalism...
He should tell them to a) piss off and b) if he wants to say anything about Roger Stone, he will say it with his pen. His pardon-signing pen...

Memo to all career DOJ employees
This is not what you signed up for. The four prosecutors who bailed on the Stone case have shown the way. Report all instances of improper political influence and other misdeeds to the DOJ IG, who is required to protect your identity.

"judge" Amy Berman Jackson is a ClownBammy Resistance judge.
What the DNC Media stooges won't tell anyone is that Berman Jackson would "spill" on Trump so fast it would make your head spin if he had talked to her.
These Deep State Bolsheviks would have sentenced him to death if they thought they could get away with it.
Do you have to be a slimy creature to vote for Chuck Schumer? He is so creepy
AND SO WHAT IF HE DID????
Aren’t all those attorneys left over from the Obama Administration? Why are they still there anyway? Oh, that’s right. They were never fired like they should have been on day one.
He has been a very restrained Commander-in-Chief versus the Dems who are fit to be tied and in need of restraint in strait jackets and kept away from open mics with their hate-filled tirades spread as gospel by the alphabet nutworx.
What I want to know is how 1 Judge got all the Trump defendants. Id also like to know why the midnight raids for Stone and Manafort
Unfortunately, many partisan Democrat federal judges don't understand their great responsibilities.
Schumer: Always in the wrong place at the wrong time, wrong accusation against the wrong person.
At least this SOB is consistent in his being wrong. Comes with being a Democrat leader.
#12. Agreed. Just ask any parent of a small child, esp. a girl, if they would left her/him sit on Schumer’s lap or be alone with him.
