By Michael Tomasky thedailybeast.com OUR PLATFORM AINT STRONGIts not just Sanders and the electability question. The whole field, while all of them seem like good, dedicated people, has disappointed. BEAST INSIDENew Hampshire is voting. I remember when this used to be an exciting day. Even if my candidate didnt win, which he (they were all men) usually didnt, I loved both the reliable rituals and the unexpected little accidents.
New Hampshire is voting. I remember when this used to be an exciting day. Even if my candidate didnt win, which he (they were all men) usually didnt, I loved both the reliable rituals and the unexpected little accidents. If memory serves (the video doesnt seem to be online), I recall Illinois Senator Paul Simon saying during his concession speech in 1988 that our platform is strongright before the riser he was standing on collapsed.
Well, its not exciting now. Its depressing. Im depressed. Almost everybody I know, every Democrat anyway, is depressed. Its a mess. Iowa was a shitshow and shouldnt be first anyway. New Hampshire shouldnt be second, its totally preposterous, yet the party lacks the stones to tell these self-important, second-tier states to go stuff it. The candidates dont look like winners. The party looks like it might be headed toward a face-off between a billionaire and a man who wants to ban billionaires, neither of them really Democrats.
And Donald Trump is going to be re-elected.

“Not all bridges are covered, go for it”
Michigan’s Big Mac bridge is nice this time of year, try that one.
The depressed Dems should resort to taking drugs they so much favor especially the ones flowing across the southern border. Better living through chemistry eh?
I'm just not seeing why the Left struggles to connect with regular folks. It's a mystery.
Sounds like a pretty wimpy parent if he looks to his kids to tell him what is important.
Not a wimpy Parent, just another Democrat.
Make the i-hate-trumpers stop spitting at us and in foof and attacking us in general. I do not know how all that was allowed to take place. Those people should be jailed. Just leave those of us who believe in and support Trump alone.
foof=food
“The party looks like it might be headed toward a face-off between a billionaire and a man who wants to ban billionaires, neither of them really Democrats. “
interesting way to phrase it, that is, the most successful Democrat candidates are not Democrats ...
but even worse for the Dems is that this faceoff is likely to occur at a contested convention because the Dem “reform” of proportionally awarding delegates for state primaries/caucuses almost guarantees that none of this gaggle of Lilliputian candidates arrives at the convention with a majority of delegates, meaning the 850 super-delegate votes will kick in after the first ballot doesn’t produce a winner ... the most probable outcome thereafter is that bloomberg gets the nod, even though bernie will likely get the most votes (though not a majority) on the first ballot, meaning the Dem party is likely to be permanently fractured thereafter ...
Yep, I can see that as the final straw for the Bernie supporters, that and outlawing the big gulp when you have severe cotton mouth.
“...yet the party lacks the stones to tell these self-important, second-tier states to go stuff it”
Well, this about sums up the way the democraps view most of middle America.
Coolidge became President upon Hardings death, so he was only elected once, 1924.
I said running for re-election. Truman and LBJ never ran. Woulda Coulda Shoulda lost? Maybe..... but there was a article many years ago that purposed that LBJ might had survived if he had stayed in it. It stands at 4
HW Bush, Carter, Hoover, Taft
Ford never won the presidency as he succeed Nixon after Watergate and his resignation
Were talking about running for re-election in general. Maybe LBJ or Truman would have lost the primaries , maybe would have struggled and survived during the primaries; we will never know but Im talking about a sitting incumbent President running in the general election and those two are irrelevant since Trump isnt in danger of losing the primaries.
It stands at 4
And I brought up Taft lost just because it was the only other time in about the past 100 years of the 4 losses that a sitting President lost re-election outside of perceived economic issues
Chuck Todd just said the same thing - 'Chuck Todd Dumps on Democrat Field: 'B-Level, No Star''..
Looks like we're seeing a new 'talking point'... Is there a star in the wings? Have white liberal elites chosen a new champion who will come out at the convention?
Talking points will go out in the morning to the bimbos and pretentious men of MSNBC... we'll know then.
