Truman and LBJ never ran.

LBJ ran in New Hampshire, and then dropped out. If you try for the nomination and fail, that is to me, the same as a loss. I omitted him from the final anyway. Truman did allow his name to be placed on the NH ballot, and might have run formally had he polled better.

< Taft is more than 100 years ago. 1920 is the new cut-off. I also omitted Ford because he didn't win the presidency.

We’re talking about running for re-election in general. Maybe LBJ or Truman would have lost the primaries , maybe would have struggled and survived during the primaries; we will never know but I’m talking about a sitting incumbent President running in the general election and those two are irrelevant since Trump isn’t in danger of losing the primaries.

It stands at 4

And I brought up Taft lost just because it was the only other time in about the past 100 year’s of the 4 losses that a sitting President lost re-election outside of perceived economic issues
