a elected President has never been defeated in re-election only 4 times in past 100 years and all of them except one were because of economic issues; Teddy Roosevelt

And that was well over 100 years ago!

We still suffer from a small “n” issue. The elected presidents who ran and won are (from memory) Obama, Bush the Younger, Clinton, Reagan, Nixon, Eisenhower, FDR, Coolidge. Losers include George the Elder, Jimmy Carter, Hoover. Truman won once, but was only elected as VP and Couldn’t- win again in ‘52. LBJ won in 64, but dropped out in 68 after a poor showing in NH [he took a hint better than George the Elder]. So, omitting Truman and LBJ, we have 8 winners vs 3 losers... hardly overwhelming odds.

Coolidge became President upon Harding’s death, so he was only elected once, 1924.

I said running for re-election. Truman and LBJ never ran. ‘Woulda Coulda Shoulda’ lost? Maybe..... but there was a article many years ago that purposed that LBJ might had survived if he had stayed in it. It stands at 4

HW Bush, Carter, Hoover, Taft

Ford never won the presidency as he succeed Nixon after Watergate and his resignation
