Four more miles last week - we continue to run at 4 to 5 miles per week. DoD expected to approve funding for hundreds of more miles, some time this week.

Imagine where we could be with this if the GOP majority Congress had not wasted the first two years of Trump’s time obstructing.

Yep, if Paul Ryan hadn’t blocked it for years, we would be done.

Just to be clear, this is new wall, correct? Doesn’t include all the repair/upgraded wall work done out in San Diego and other places?

Paul Ryan, and now Mitt Romney - talk about two losers. In retrospect, the current losers running for the Dem nomination are at least loyal to their party, that can't be said of these two losers many of us fell for.

Not just those two.

Alexander, Graham, McSally, Murkowsky, Hoeven, Rubio, Tillis, Burr, Lankford, Gardner, Cornyn, Hyde-Smith, Collins, Sasse, Shelby, Ernst, Blunt, McConnell, Wicker, Portman, Capito, Lee, Romney, Johnson, Toomey, Rounds, Thune, Daines, Barasso and Enzi are all Bush League Republicans.

We have to elect better Republicans.
Ones that side with the citizens, the rule of law and the Constitution.
Quite a few of them quit out of the House.
We have an opportunity to take back the House with better Republicans.

After you have been in office two terms (Senator 12 years) you start moving away from the interests of your constituents and more to the interests of the Beltway (Establishment). The senator might not even be aware of it. In those 12 years he’s/she’s been to so many blandishments that it doesn’t take too much inner rationalization to move in that direction.

Three amnesty votes is more than enough to warrant removal from office in the primary.

South Carolina voters prove they are just like AZ voters when they return backstabbers to office repeatedly.

Keep voting for amnesty and eventually we lose our country.

“Just to be clear, this is new wall, correct? Doesn’t include all the repair/upgraded wall work done out in San Diego and other places?”

No. This is total miles of Wall System during the Trump Administration.

These are official numbers from the Border Patrol. The Administration does not recognize significance of the distinction between “new” and “replacement” miles.

Their view is that if you do new construction, that is new (just as the terms are applied in other walks of life). They go by a carefully analyzed priority list, of where effective barrier is most needed, regardless of if there is something there or not. If illegal traffic is flowing through a segment of the border, it needs a new barrier (regardless of if some ineffective barrier is there).

Of the 654 miles of barrier that existed when President Trump took office, only 221 are assessed as being effective. Since those barriers were placed in priority locations, replacement of about 433 miles of ineffective barrier is a much higher priority (for real operational control of the border), than building “new” barrier along the great bulk of the border.

For those who just want to see “new” miles, regardless of its actual effectiveness in controlling illegal traffic, the projects that have now started in the Rio Grande Valley will be building “new” barrier, every week from here on out. Just over 100 such “new” miles have been contracted there, and over 100 more upriver have already been designated for contracting with already available funds.

The DoD money from this year’s budget, expected to be approved by the SecDef this week, will likely include more “new” miles.

The people unsupportive of our President are the people who would not give him the money for the fence that you are defending.

Thanks, Beau. Your wall updates are the most informative posts on FR (OK, maybe a close second after Trump tweets).

Keep up the good work.

You’re outdated defense of Bush League Republicans is moot.
The citizens finally have a champion who is securing the border and enforcing the law.

At least this time Lurkinanloomin was not bitching about the GOP not ousting Obama due to the belief of some he was not a natural born citizen. If you study his/her postings, you’ll see he is like a broken record.
