Collins was prominent during the House impeachment proceedings as an aggressive questioner on President Trumps behalf. I didnt find his questioning particularly cogent, but thats just my opinion. He did his best, and gained good will from the president and the party for his efforts.
But there are good reasons not to support Collins over Loeffler. For one thing, Collinss record on immigration leaves plenty to be desired. He is part of a group of GOP Senators and congressman that has pleaded with DHS Secretary Chad Wolf to bring more foreign workers to the U.S. to compete against Americans for jobs. Breitbart has the details.
Sen. Loeffler did not join this plea.
Collins is worse on crime than he is on immigration. He helped lead the charge on the First Step Act. Now, hes promoting even more drastic jailbreak legislation called the Prison Reform and Redemption Act.
Collins is collaborating with Rep. Hakeem Jeffries on this bill. Jeffries is a radical Democrat from New York.
Like the previous incarnation of jailbreak legislation, the Jeffries-Collins legislation offers time credits to let certain federal prisoners out early. However, the new legislation goes much further than First Step. This Townhall article by Reagan McCarthy has the details.
Under Jeffries-Collins child pornographers would be eligible for early release as long as its their first offense. Other crimes covered by the bill include failing to register as a sex offender, importing illegal immigrants for prostitution, and female genital mutilation.
Id like to hear Doug Collins explain why, for example, he favors leniency for criminals who import illegal immigrants for prostitution.
President Trump has signaled that hes happy with Sen. Loeffler. Im happy she was selected instead of Rep. Collins. I hope she will still be in the Senate come this time next year.

Just what we need...GOP is hopeless..if this is true..
FAKE NEWS I dont believe this for a moment!!!
Well you better do a little research ....its not fake
MIRENGOFF was a nevertrumper and big GOPe supporter (think JEB!). Not sure if he still is but I know he never turns down an opportunity to criticize the President. GOPe such as Club for Growth, Chamber of C is going heavy after Collins and really pushing Kelly L.
In general, a successful business person is usually better choice than a career politician. Trump is proving that point every day.
I am very happy with Collins' aggressive support of President Trump, especially his leadership in the Judiciary committee.
I am not aware if Collins' stance on immigration and criminal reform as described in the column. The true story will surely come out during the campaign.
I have read that Loeffler supports increasing H1B visas. The article states that Loeffler was not a part of the group of Senators and congressman that has pleaded with DHS Secretary Chad Wolf to bring more foreign workers to the U.S....
Perhaps, this plea occurred before Loeffler became a senator. Who knows.
Illegal immigration and border security are biggies for us conservatives in Georgia.
I was disappointed that Gov. Kemp selected Loeffler over Collins. But, I must say that I am happy with her performance to date.
Note: Loeffler is already running political ads here in Georgia. She is very rich and can self-finance. Part of Gov. Kemp's rational is that he believes that she can win back the suburban women vote.
Collins has proven himself to me he has been one of Trumps biggest supporters this woman was appointed by Gov. and has NO record in office she could turn out to be another damn Romney NO THANK YOU!!!!
The U.S. Department of Justice didnt even exist until 1870. Before that, Federal crimes were pretty much limited to treason and tax evasion.
Her ability to self-finance her campaign is critical, because shes going to have to do it TWICE in the next three years. The 2020 election is just to fill the remainder of Senator Isaksons term which then expires in 2022.
Not fake, kiddo. That’s how screwed up some in the GOP are these days.
It’s ironic that the downfall of the Republic may very well be at the hands of the GOP who does the bidding of the DNC.
