Anxiety is coursing through the Democratic Party as President Donald Trump emerges from his impeachment proceedings as a potent threat for reelection, with party leaders and activists uncertain about how to beat the incumbent and worried about a nominating race that remains crowded and is growing more acrimonious.
While Democrats see Trump as a corrosive figure and a threat to the nation, they also see the president and his well-funded campaign tailoring a reelection bid around the strong economy and visceral appeals to his ardent supporters.
Trump's robust political standing came into view this past week, as he claimed vindication from his acquittal in his Senate trial despite damaging House testimony about his conduct with Ukraine - and set off on a path of retribution by ousting some officials who were witnesses. At the same time, his Gallup approval rating ticked up to 49 percent, its highest point yet.
The developments have generated convulsions of angst among Democrats, who watched their first-in-the-nation Iowa presidential caucuses conclude in a chaotic fiasco and deliver an inconclusive result. Many in the party are now sounding the alarm that denying Trump a second term could be far more difficult than they had calculated.
"We have a president who isn't merely unconventional or challenging institutions and elites, or coloring outside the lines. He's unmoored," Sen. Christopher Coons, D-Del., said. Yet, Coons added, he is "very aware" that Trump could win reelection "with these economic numbers at his back, all as millions of Americans grow numb to his behavior."
Since Democratic presidential hopefuls began running through the starting gates a year ago, party activists have been consumed with the question of electability - specifically, which of the roughly two dozen initial candidates could best stack up against Trump.

This article is excellent. The authors lament that Trump "lies", but that is because the media is in a panic as well. People should read the whole thing at the link:
Here is the fundamental problem with the Democrats EVER holding office. They simply do not tell the truth, don't believe in telling the truth, don't know how to live truthful lives and have only one guiding principle of life, "get total control". Can't be fixed unless they repent and turn back to God. Wonder how that is going to happen?
Democrats hatred of Trump is their undoing. They havent learned why he beat them in 2016 and they still dont understand why he will be re-elected later this year.
You cant beat something with nothing.
What with news breaking of 0bamas illegal secret war and Billions in missing US Taxdollars, yeah, the Rats are probably a little nervous. They should be. Finally Barr is irrelevant. He does or he doesnt and gets fired. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Has it ever occurred to you Democrats that even YOUR constituency doesn’t want homosexuality (Buttigieg) , transgenders, abortion, Socialism (Bernie & Warren), corruption where one rakes in millions illegally (Biden) or people who advocate things that go against even common sense, much less the Bible? Until you figure that out, you’re lost and the nation may be lost.
Eventually they will get tired of so much winning and leave. One hopes. Or we can have a war and just kill them.
The dems hate Trump so much they will eat their young to prove it.
Trump is waking America up to the dangers of socialism and that is what has them scared to death of him. It is obvious that he will tar them and any Democratic candidate in the house, senate as socialist and point out how America's jobs, healthcare and houses will belong to the elites and not to them. The elites will say who does business and who gets healthcare and how much, how much they will be paid and when.
If given their druthers, it is obvious that many of the Democrats would choose communism if they could get it. Command and control is their thing - control over what you say, what you eat and what you are perceived to be thinking. You will not be perceived innocent until proven guilty in a court of Law, but rather perceived guilty until you prove yourself innocent against a ton of meetoo accusers ready for you to be thrown into the Gulag for years of "re-education".
Trump scares them to death, because he is not bound by politeness as were past republicans. He can crudely tell Americans about Socialism and they will believe him. And that just cannot be allowed in AmeriKA.
The impeachment is no different than a 6 year old using a crayon on a red hot NASCAR exhaust manifold.
Bernie Bros are complaining about the lube the DNC is using on them...
They will bolt soon, then the real fun begins.
Remember that we have Coons instead of Christine O'Donnell because Republicans declined to rally around her after she committed the sin of defeating favored establishment candidate Mike Castle in the 2010 "Tea Party" primary for the seat vacated by Joe Biden.
It's because of cases like this that makes claims that we need every Senate vote ring hollow to me. We had the chance to pick up a seat in 2010 and Republicans sacrificed it. Coons may very well have won, but Republicans didn't seriously contest the race, instead working to undermine O'Donnell behind the scenes with a fake IRS tax lien that went away after she lost the race.
Also, it was Coons who got Flake to turn against Kavanaugh in his confirmation hearing. That could have been O'Donnell up there instead.

To this day nothing has been proven against Judge Roy, yet
we have Doug Jones in this Red state, because Mitch the Turdle colluded with Dems and spent 30 million on negative
ads against the former State Chief Justice.
Exactly, and I was thinking the same thing when I read that. They dont have the truth on their side. They are liars. So they pound the table even louder.
Like you, I am tired of the excuses that the attorney general is working on it. He needs to act, yesterday. This is a war for our Constitution and our way of life. If he is unwilling to arrest these people, he should step down.
In that rant I said "I think they vote for McConnell out of fear of losing their committee assignments and campaign funding if they oppose him..." I was speaking about voting for him as majority leader, not opposing the caucus on votes like Romney just did. McConnell seemed to indicate that there would be no repercussions for Romney when McConnell said ""We don't have any doghouses here. The most important vote is the next vote."
McConnell is in the situation he's in (stuck with three or four squishy votes) because of the things I wrote in that rant.
As President Trump demonstrated in his White House speech on Thursday, there is a new class of fighters emerging in Congress. I can't wait for them to take over the leadership.

The problem they have with Trump is that he loves America and puts Americans first. They, mostly, are globalists and do not think that America is so great and are strongly leaning toward making America into a socialist country in which they are in charge.
Is anyone going to convince them that that is ...not only incorrect, but also...DANGEROUS.
All we heard was there were no countries or population or culture WORTH SAVING.
Thank Heaven, there are those of us, who saw the push toward Communism, woke up and started screaming against it.
George Schwartz AKA George Soros is very unhappy today.
Obviously, it’s a complicated legal situation with many bad actors that has to be properly dealt with. Patience, the good guys are doing their work (and there’s a lot of thankless work).
In the meantime, we get to enjoy the Democrat ClownShow and Big Leftist Media both imploding in stereo. Double the fun!
