Why are we still there? What is the mission? Is that mission obtainable? How will we know if it has been accomplished?
Prayers up for our soldiers!

To keep our defense budget bloated on the back of taxpayers, and to fund the Military Industrial Complex.
Twenty more years in Afghanistan should do it.
Every time I read one of these stories I am saddened and my first thought is that we must leave.
Our men deserve better than to be wasted on that hellhole that holds no value to us.
Britain had, I believe four ‘Afghan Wars’. This is when they were the most powerful nation on earth. Britain left. The USSR had an Afghan war when it was the second most powerful nation on earth. They left. We’re the world’s superpower. We’ve been in Afghanistan for 19 years. Sooner or later we’re going to leave too.
It appears that the Afghans can’t abide being taken over by world powers. They just can stand it. And sooner or later, they win.
Leadership says we need to be there.. but no one in leadership says why. They just keep our sons and daughters as pawns in their hames.
Right from the playbook to engage U.S. forces simultaneously as “peace talks” go on. The Vietcong played this masterfully as well. America is closing in on losing this “war”. It’s a disgrace.
First reports are seldom correct, so hardly noteworthy.

Let me guess: our guys were shot by their trusted Muslim companions
At least thats how its gone down almost every time thus far.
We should, at the very least, inflict twice the number of casualties on them than they inflicted on us. Then we can get out.
We need to napalm all the poppy fields on our way out.
Napalm. Then salt. Then more salt.
Then flatten every single village adjacent to every single field. Leave no survivors.

Well, I have seen the posted photos of the dead US troops, and the uniformed afghanis don’t look too upset, fwiw.
That would be certainly be very different from the first reports.
Ditto in Korea and Vietnam. I was an infantryman in Vietnam in 1971 when the press and the politicians had announced that the U.S. was withdrawing and the war had been turned over the the South Vietnamese. The North Vietnamese Army did not get the memo.
I like the way you think. I’m gonna be keeping an eye on you.
