NEW JERSEY Four remained in a hospital on Saturday after two dozen people who arrived in New Jersey this week were tested for the coronavirus, officials say.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had ordered the four individuals to be evaluated at a New Jersey hospital to make sure that they do not have the coronavirus, the state Department of Health told Patch on Saturday. The other 23 passengers from a cruise ship that arrived on Friday were cleared.
Test results are pending at the CDC in Atlanta, the DOH said.

Bad News:
I thought a whole cruise ship had been let loose in NJ. Maybe the CDC has reason to think this isn't coronavirus, but if they are wrong, 23 people could infect a lot of NJ. It's not clear that the 23 were told to self isolate. It sounds like they weren't.
The Royal Caribbean cruise ship with the passengers who fell ill docked around 6 a.m. in Bayonne, according to WABC-TV. The report said the four who are being evaluated were transported to University Hospital in Newark.

I would like to see the list of names of those Big Brain Officials who allowed this ship to dock.
Why isn’t little dictator Greta, aka Lie Ying, over there telling the Chinese if they cleaned up their crap...they might be able to live longer. She could go cheaply on an empty cargo vessel.
“I would like to see the list of names of those Big Brain Officials who allowed this ship to dock.”
It’s New Jersey, probably mobsters.
Seriously, they’d have to eventually dock at some point - unless I’m missing something. The key, in my opinion, is to do what the Japanese are doing and making damn sure that the people are clean before being let off.
You are right, of course.
That’s what I should have criticized. The release of passengers, not the docking of the boat.
It appears the passengers have a weekend to run around NJ/NY before returning by departure time Monday. The CDC took a chance letting anyone off the ship until the test results came back.

No problem. This thing is new territory and it is shaking me up to the core. I fear that NONE of the ‘experts’ have any clue as to what’s in store for humanity.
The CDC did take a chance with people’s lives.
I hope they had more information than has been revealed so far.
And I hope they end up being right.
But I think they need to review the decision making process in this case. This could be a disaster in the making.
This entire thing stinks to high heaven.
Either it’s made up or they want to set in motion an experiment to see how many do get this virus.
Maybe because she likes what it's doing to their carbon footprint?
Worldwide oil prices are down, and with it, gasoline prices.
Thanks for the Twitter link. Im following.
I live in The Peoples Democrapic State of NJ
Yes, this is the densest part of the state (just south of Jersey City, east of Newark). Bizarre...
A lot of these cruises now leave from Bayonne (as an alternative to NYC); I don’t think this was the tourist destination.
Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Perhaps not.
But they dirtied up cabs, buses, trains and the airport on their way out of town.
Have fun!
Oh, it is definitely a problem; I just wanted to clear up any misconception that NJ is a destination for cruise ships - it is a starting point.
They’ll go home and spread it to their neighbors throughout the NYC metro area/north Jersey.
Ah. Totally understand.
Bermuda is a thing.
My Inlaws took a cruise out of brooklyn all up the NE seaboard into Canada and IIRC Greenland. It’s been a few years so I might be misremembering.
Nice; sounds like a nice trip!
Bayonne NJ within the past few years started accommodating these ships because they had a port already, and NYC is a mess for getting in and out for the cruises. We’ve dropped people off and picked them up in NYC, and the congestion was horrible - on weekend mornings! I wish they’d used Bayonne instead; much more accessible.
I have the same experience with airports; dropping people off/picking them up at Kennedy is a pain, while Newark is much easier (as long as it isn’t rush hour). Even so, they’ve considered adding a third international airport in the area; one site considered was too far out (the former Stewart Air Force Base in Newburgh NY - a couple of hours north along the Hudson River),
Yeah, getting in/out of brooklyn for that cruise was a nightmare.
Bayonne is a much better choice.
