Pete Buttigieg: Religious conservatives making a 'deal with the devil' for federal judiciary
The Washington Times ^ | Saturday, February 8, 2020 | David Sherfinski

CONCORD, N.H. — Former South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg on Saturday said religious conservatives are making a “deal with the devil” so the federal judiciary can be stacked with nominees from a Republican president.

“Does anybody really think that religious conservatives view Donald Trump as a religious [figure]?” Mr. Buttigieg said. “They’re riding a tiger, they’re making a deal with the devil knowing that they can get certain objectives met on the bench.”

Mr. Buttigieg and other 2020 Democratic presidential contenders were appearing Saturday morning at a forum on the judiciary hosted by several liberal advocacy groups at a community college.

The former mayor found himself on the receiving end of attacks from several of his rivals at Friday evening’s debate after finishing in a virtual tie for first with Sen. Bernard Sanders of Vermont in Iowa.

Mr. Buttigieg held a narrow edge in New Hampshire over Mr. Sanders, 25% to 24%, in the latest WBZ/Boston Globe/Suffolk University tracking poll released on Friday night. The New Hampshire primary is on Tuesday.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts was in third place with 14% support and former Vice President Joseph R. Biden was next at 11%.

I have to admit, Buttplug would probably be an expert on making deals with the devil.

This is the guy who says there’s no place in the United States for religious organizations that “discriminate” against homosexual sodomy or its practitioners. And he can’t understand why religious people will take a fried egg on toast or a dead cat for President, as long as Cocaine Mitch keeps the Federalist Society’s judicial hustle going.

You can’t make this stuff up.

The judicial tables have been turned on the lefties. Soon even the 9th circuit will no longer have activist, leftist judges legislating from the bench.

Have no mercy on them, folks. Lefties would murder you where you stand if they knew they could get away with it.

OK. What kind of deal with what kind of devil gets you righteous judges, who will follow the written law?

Democrats like to believe that Christians are easy, all you have to do is promote Christian values, and constitutional values, oppose abortion, oppose gay marriage, and they’ll follow you anywhere.

So, since its such an easy trick, where is the Democrat politician prepared to do any of the above? What Democrat politician would survive ten minutes in the modern DNC if he did any of the above?

"conservatives...can get certain objectives met on the bench”

Objectives like...

  1. following the rule of law
  2. following the Supreme Law of the Land
  3. NOT legislating from the bench because you cannot get your legislation passed
Guilty as charged!

I believe they will get more violent as they see the Judicial Branch is less leftist. It is the only thing they can think of doing.

Yes, he has made it clear he will declare Christians as criminals and have them put away.

Just so you know, Biden also said in a speech he would have Christians classified as terrorists and put under surveillance by Homeland Security.

Good to know. Of course, if Joe Biden said two clear sentences, someone must have handed him a card to read.

Buttigieg thinks he can judge peoples’ souls just like God Almighty can? No, Petey, you are not the judge of anyone.

The little puke is really going full Alinsky now. His Father worshiped the Communist Manifesto and Poofter Pete learned his lessons well. Meanwhile the DNC is using right leaning media to take Bernie out. I think Pete has a pretty good shot at getting the nom and the right VP will fix his Blacks problem.

Bernie is not being taken out.
If the media were actually having that effect the Iowa count would have been announced early.

Noah: Then he drank of the wine and was drunk, and became uncovered in his tent. (Genesis 9:21)

Abraham: And it came to pass, when he was close to entering Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, “Indeed I know that you are a woman of beautiful countenance. Therefore it will happen, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, ‘This is his wife’; and they will kill me, but they will let you live. Please say you are my sister, that it may be well with me for your sake, and that I may live because of you.” So it was, when Abram came into Egypt, that the Egyptians saw the woman, that she was very beautiful. The princes of Pharaoh also saw her and commended her to Pharaoh. And the woman was taken to Pharaoh’s house. He treated Abram well for her sake. He had sheep, oxen, male donkeys, male and female servants, female donkeys, and camels. (Genesis 12:11-16) . . . And Abraham journeyed from there to the South, and dwelt between Kadesh and Shur, and stayed in Gerar. Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah. (Genesis 20:1-2)

Jacob: Now Jacob cooked a stew; and Esau came in from the field, and he was weary. And Esau said to Jacob, “Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am weary.” Therefore his name was called Edom. But Jacob said, “Sell me your birthright as of this day.” (Genesis 25:29-31) . . . Isaac said to Jacob, “Please come near, that I may feel you, my son, whether you are really my son Esau or not.” So Jacob went near to Isaac his father, and he felt him and said, “The voice is Jacob’s voice, but the hands are the hands of Esau.” And he did not recognize him, because his hands were hairy like his brother Esau’s hands; so he blessed him. Then he said, “Are you really my son Esau?” He said, “I am.” (Genesis 27:21-24)

King David: Then it happened one evening that David arose from his bed and walked on the roof of the king’s house. And from the roof he saw a woman bathing, and the woman was very beautiful to behold. So David sent and inquired about the woman. And someone said, “Is this not [a]Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah the Hittite?” Then David sent messengers, and took her; and she came to him, and he lay with her, for she was cleansed from her impurity; and she returned to her house. And the woman conceived; so she sent and told David, and said, “I am with child.” . . . In the morning it happened that David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. And he wrote in the letter, saying, “Set Uriah in the forefront of the hottest battle, and retreat from him, that he may be struck down and die.” (2 Samuel 11:2-5 and 14-15)

I could go on: King Saul, Solomon, Peter, Paul, John, and just about every major figure in the Bible other than the Holy Family was seriously flawed. God intentionally uses people just like us to do His work - sinners who nonetheless do good too. Who are we to question the choice of Donald Trump to save America . . . given the alternatives?

Ohio State Senator and A.M.E. Bishop Benjamin W. Arnett, outstanding scholar, Legislator, and Minister, who lived through the period of the Civil War and delivered a most outstanding Centennial Sermon, at St. Paul Church in Norwalk, Ohio, by invitation, in honor of the 100th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, in which he traced the history of nations and that of America, from it's inception and up to the Year of the Centennial of its Declaration.
 photo Benjamin W. Arnett2 image.jpg

In that Sermon, Dr. Arnett issued a grave warning of what might happen to America if a group, including academics who then self-described as "Liberals," had its way. Excerpts follow:

"The Danger to our Country.

"Now that our national glory and grandeur is principally derived from the position the fathers took on the great questions of right and wrong, and the career of this nation has been unparalleled in the history of the past, now there are those who are demanding the tearing down the strength of our national fabric. They may not intend to tear it down, but just as sure as they have their way, just that sure will they undermine our superstructure and cause the greatest calamity of the age. What are the demands of this party of men? Just look at it and examine it for yourselves, and see if you are willing that they shall have their way; or will you still assist in keeping the ship of state in the hands of the same crew and run her by the old gospel chart! But ye men who think there is no danger listen to the demands of the Liberals as they choose to call themselves:

"'Organize! Liberals of America! The hour for action has arrived. The cause of freedom calls upon us to combine our strength, our zeal, our efforts. These are The Demands of Liberalism:

"'1. We demand that churches and other ecclesiastical property shall no longer be exempt from just taxation.

"'2. We demand that the employment of chaplains in Congress, in State Legislatures, in the navy and militia, and in prisons, asylums, and all other institutions supported by public money, shall be discontinued.

"'3. We demand that all public appropriations for sectarian educational and charitable institutions shall cease.

"'4. We demand that all religious services now sustained by the government shall be abolished; and especially that the use of the Bible in the public schools, whether ostensibly as a text-book or avowedly as a book of religious worship, shall be prohibited.

"'5. We demand that the appointment, by the President of the United States or by the Governors of the various States, of all religious festivals and fasts shall wholly cease.

"'6. We demand that the judicial oath in the courts and in all other departments of the government shall be abolished, and that simple affirmation under the pains and penalties of perjury shall be established in its stead.

"'7. We demand that all laws directly or indirectly enforcing the observance of Sunday as the Sabbath shall be repealed.

"'8. We demand that all laws looking to the enforcement of “Christian” morality shall be abrogated, and that all laws shall be conformed to the requirements of natural morality, equal rights, and impartial liberty.

"'9. We demand that not only in the Constitution of the United States and of the several States, but also in the practical administration of the same, no privilege or advantage shall be conceded to Christianity or any other special religion; that our entire political system shall be founded and administered on a purely secular basis; and that whatever changes shall prove necessary to this end shall be consistently, unflinchingly, and promptly made.'

"'Let us boldly and with high purpose meet the duty of the hour.'

In another section of the lengthy discourse, Bishop Arnett addressed the topic of "The Greatness of America," as follows:
"Let us see what it is that makes us so great; wherein lies our strength. What has made us one of the greatest powers of the earth, politically and intellectually? Have we come to the conclusion that it is Righteousness that exalteth a nation? We have met to-day at the request of the President of the United States, Ulysses S. Grant, and also the Governor of our beloved State, Rutherford B. Hayes. For what? Why call us from our homes? Why come to the house of God? Why not go to the hall of mirth and to the places of amusement to-day? No that is not what they want us to do. We are commanded to go to our 'several places of worship, and there offer up thanks to Kind Providence which has brought our nation through the scenes of another year, and blessed the land with peace, plenty and prosperity.' Then as Americans we have reason to rejoice and congratulate ourselves on the greatness of our beloved country; at this the close of the first hundred years of experimental government of the people, by the people, and for the people. To be a citizen of this vast country is something, and to share in its privileges and duties is more than something." - Dr. Benjamin W. Arnett, 1876 "Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon" -

CENTENNIAL Thanksgiving Sermon, DELIVERED BY REV. B. W. ARNETT, B. D., AT ST. PAUL A. M. E. CHURCH, URBANA, OHIO 1876 - available in the "Library of Congress - Historical Collections" - "African-American Pamphlets from the Daniel A. P. Murray Collection," 1820-1920; American Memory, Washington, DC.

This historical treasure is one which should be prominent in our national discussions, especially now, when our philosophical foundations are being challenged, and when the views of a learned man like Dr. Arnett might shed light on centuries-old ideas about America's history. His theme: Righteousness Exalteth a Nation, but Sin is a Reproach to any People."

"Withdraw from Christendom the Bible, the Church with its sacraments and ministry, and Christian morality and hopes, and aspirations for time and eternity; repeal all the laws that are founded in the Christian Scriptures; remove the Christian humanities in the form of hospitals and asylums, and reformatories and institutions of mercy utterly unknown to unchristian countries; destroy the literature, the culture, the institutions of learning, the art, the refinement, the place of woman in her home and in society, which owe their origin and power to Christianity; blot out all faith in Divine Providence, love, and righteousness; turn back every believer in Christ to his former state; remove all thought or hope of the forgiveness of sins by a just but gracious God; erase the name of Christ from every register it sanctifies—in a word annihilate all the legitimate and logical effects of Christianity in Christendom—just accomplish in fact what multitudes of gifted and learned minds are wishing and trying to accomplish by their science, philosophy, and criticism, and what multitudes of the common people desire and seek, and not only would all progress toward and unto perfection cease, but not one of the shining lights of infidelity would shine much longer. Yes, the bitterest enemies of this holy and blessed religion, owe their ability to be enemies to its sacred revelations - to the inspiration and sublimity of that faith which reflects its glories on their hostile natures. They live in the strength of that which they would destroy. They are raised to their seats of opportunity and power by the grace of Him they would crucify afresh; and is it to be thought that they are stronger than that which gives them strength? Can it be supposed that a religion which civilizes and subdues, and elevates and blesses will succumb to the enmities it may arouse and quicken in its onward march? Are we to tremble for the ark of God when God is its upholder, and protector, and preserver?” - Dr. Benjaming W. Arnett, St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Urbana, Ohio, Centennial Thanksgiving Sermon, November 1876
Dr. Arnett, an A.M.E. Minister and Ohio State Legislator, was invited to publish this remarkable sermon commemorating the Centennial of the Declaration of Independence by the following method:

If Not for the DNC Bernie would have won Iowa. He was ahead in the Poll that “somehow” got spiked. The 2 days of chaos were to hit the sweet spot with the vote rigging. Take enough votes from Bernie to keep him from winning but not so many that it was an obvious screw job. If Bernie’s base thinks he is being cheated again they stay home, a disaster for the rats.

What a brilliant move on Buttjiggers part, he knows that no religious Conservative not in the throws of dementia would ever vote for him so he's pandering to the atheists and mentally disturbed.

I'm still waiting for his outreach to moslems...........or did I miss it?
