He could also be subject to court martial for leaking and reduced in rank to Lt before being assigned to some remote location such as the Arctic or Antarctic.
This is how the military hints to its officers that it’s time to go.

True. But, being fired by the President of the United States has serious career implications. To start with:
- Future assignments
- Future promotions
- Security clearance renewals
- Employment in the Federal Government after retirement
- Employment in the private sector where a security clearance is required.
He’s not a whistleblower, so I am not sure how much protection he has from direct retaliation.
My question is about his twin brother who (as a civilian Federal employee) also works for the NSC at the White House. News reports say he is overseeing the review and hold on the publication of the John Bolton book.
